The 2012 New England Patriots

Don't need to be much of a football scholar to see a catchable ball

That was 70% Brady 30% Welker IMO. Brady was throwing passes behind guys all night, not to mention that ridiculous safety on the first offensive play from scrimmage something a veteran QB should never do. Had Welker caught that ball, and the Pats eventually won, he'd still be getting his walking papers now. I don't see how the team is better off, but time will tell.

I have to trust they feel they did the right thing. For the most part they have been pretty successful with moves. (A. Thomas aside) When Milloy was let go I wondered and it turned out ok. Law, less successful move. Heck, Edelman wasn't much of a dropoff from Welker. Maybe they looked at stats and film with Welker out and felt somebody else could do the job too. And I have to be honest, I was getting real frustrated with the "offense in a phone booth' approach anyway.

So I don't mind if Gorganzola only catches 70 passes next year if that means wideouts catch more. No, I don't know who those wideouts will be but i wuold just like to see them throw the ball more than 15 yards in the air once in a while.

Welker is also probably 1-2 concussions away from retiring and 1 knee injury away from the same outcome and he plays in a manner that accumulates those injuries...he has been beaten up over the last few years...if RB's only have so many yards in them, receivers probably can't continue to make 100+ catches a year getting hammered by LB's and S's indefinitely.

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Tommy threw many passes that would caught by purple browns in January. We're those welker's fault too?
What does that have to do with the last Super Bowl NE was in? Anybody with eyes knows Tommy ain't what he once was, I think marriage took his legs :D

yup! that's why he threw that pass behind welker in super bowl loss..

? which? there have been so many!!! :D

It smells like garbage that they let Welker go. But, I will be perfectly happy if they spend money on the D to improve this team. They have proved time in and time out that they can interchange parts of the O and still have a great offense. But they have also proved that a shotty D will make them lose the big game time in and time out. GET SOME GREAT GUYS ON D!

Pats sign AZ S Wilson and resign Talib... I'm OK with Welker going now....

Re: The 2012 New England Patriots

Kraft just held court on the Welker negotiations. Said something along the lines of "I don't answer to Tom Brady," which I'm sure will sound better in context than as a stand-alone quote. ;)
