Looking at their schedule, Patriots could win out on paper. Denver game on the road where they used to have lot a of problems should be a win but may be close. That said, not sure if the defense, especially the secondary will be good enough when they play all good teams in the playoffs. We'll find out when that time comes when they play teams like Pittsburgh and Baltimore if that's who they meet. Oakland and Cincinnati don't scare me but we'll see who ends up in the playoffs in the AFC.

Fun to see Edelman out there on D - finally, he's good for something. Enjoyed the way he took down Young in particular.

As far as the D goes, thank God we don't play in the NFC. Between injuries and general suckiness, there's really only one playoff caliber QB the Pats will have to face and that's Roethlisberger. Texans are on borrowed time with a 3rd string QB now. Flacco is terrible. Cincy & Oakland - whatever.

Now if the Pats had to deal with Rodgers, Brees, Eli Gump, etc every other week, their record would be a lot different.

BTW, Rover, I'm conceding the point to you on Taylor Price. :) When Tiquan Underwood passes you on the depth chart after being signed midweek, cleasrly you have issues. Not sure why he can't get it together.

Maybe they can take this DB Edelman and make him a receiver. Think how effective he'd be tackling anyone that intercepts the ball.

Brandon Tate may not have been Jerry Rice but he was fast and could catch reasonably well. We don't need a hall of famer, just a fast guy who can stretch the D and has opposable thumbs.

Maybe Bill's halfway house will bring in Desean Jackson after the Eagles cut him. :D

I was thinking that during the game (not about you, but about Price). It is far, far beyond the point for me where they should be calling up Randy Moss. This is a case, much like the Duane Starks era, of Belichick being too stubborn for his own good sometimes (provided Moss wants to come back and is in shape). This Underdog guy dropped a wide open pass in stride heading for the end zone. Ochocinco sucks and should be IR'd. Price can't earn his way on the field. Edelman is better at D than on O. When a playoff game against the Steelers or Ravens rolls around, they are going to need that 3rd WR threat to spread the field and take the safeties deep as well as a top corner. With all the creampuffs coming up the rest of the year, its the perfect time to get him in sync without costing you any big games. Not sure what's holding this up.

I heard Belichek was praising the Colts QB and their D early today, later on their QB was changed and their D coordinator was fired. TF

In a surprising move, the Patriots waived second-year wide receiver Taylor Price on Saturday. Price's release makes room on the 53-man roster for offensive lineman Nick McDonald, who was activated from the practice squad.

Teams will have until Monday at 4 p.m. to put a waiver claim in on Price.

Price, a third-round pick of the Patriots in 2010, struggled to get on the field in his two seasons in New England. He has dressed three times this season, but has not caught a pass. Last season, Price was active only for the regular season finale, catching three passes in the game.

Is this an accurate statement?:

WR is a very difficult position to draft...of the top guys the success rate is roughly 50% and many of the decent receivers in the league (non-top draft picks) weren't highly touted, you are happy every time you get one but try not to think of the 5 you cut before you found him. They are harder to predict than RB's, are equally likely to get hurt and if they aren't smart enough it doesn't matter if you have Peyton Brady-Rodgers as your QB, it takes 2 to read a blitz and adjust to the right route.

How many teams have more than 2 good WR's and drafted most of them? With Donte Stallworth and Mason and the like running around, it must be that young, fast guys who can catch and keep up with today's offenses are short in supply. Seems like many teams just bring in 12 guys and keep the 1-2 that can play 3rd WR for a low price.

I can go along with this, but the issue then becomes why are you wasting picks in the first three rounds on them? I think the problem is in college nobody plays pass defense. Then it becomes a track meet out there. Once these guys get to the pros, the defenses they're facing are eons better. Don't remember how high a pick Price was.

Holy crap, anybody watching the Montana State/Sam Houston State football game? Davis Akpla (Montana State) made a catch that will (hopefully) erase the David Tyree catch as "one of the greatest catches in history".....Pats fans can only hope!

The times I saw him play, he looked good but injuries or other issues cropped up. Chad Johnson has had minimal effect with the offense. Pats just tied it but Brady misfired on an open receiver. That's 2 missed TDs so far in this game.

I swear Brady can't just throw the ball away. Now Brady going after the O coordinator or maybe the coach is going after Brady
