The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

From the overhead replay, it looked like the last Garmin leadout man blocked Farrar, so Tyler moved over, which blocked Petacchi against the barriers. So both were impeded by the last Garmin rider.

Hopefully Farrar can keep improving as the race goes on. Probably another shot at it tomorrow...hillier and longer than today, but certainly one that could end in a sprint finish if the sprint teams want to control it.

Titleist - good call on Rojas!

In the post race interview Farrar said he moved to the wrong side of Dean and messed up his sprint to the line.

Pretty uneventful stage today, other teams did a good job of trying to mess up the HTC train but Cav still won.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Nice, that's what my fantasy team needed!
Cav takes the win, Farrar gets 2nd.

Petacchi 3rd, McEwen 4th.
Hushovd got 10th, so he still gets sprinter points.

Farrar is getting closer...he'll get one sooner or later.
That was a really fast finish today. Downhill run with a couple bends.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

I'm really impressed with Renshaw. The guy goes really fast and if Cav can hold his wheel he is put on the right line.

I'm guessing my time in the USCHO maillot jaune has about as much time left as Cancellara.

I think Renshaw could beat most of the sprinters if he was on a different team. He's by far the best leadout man in the peloton.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Look for me near the top of Cote de Gresin (Cat 4) tomorrow (though that may be too early for live coverage - not sure). Would have hit one of the big mountains, but my parents weren't up for camping out overnight tonight. Good thing, 'cause it looks like it's about to thunderstorm something fierce!

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Nice attacking stage today but not a whole lot of movement from the big contenders with a mountain top finish tomorrow will be a day for Conntador Schleck and Sastre to fly. We will see how his Lanceness legs are.

Awesome, have fun! :)

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

OOHHH! Carnage on La Ramaz! LA dropped!

Lots of people just falling off the back, but no one has attacked with another mountain still to come.
These riders are just being shed with strong tempo riding. The heat is taking its toll it seems.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Yeah, started by Sky of all teams...From looking at Gruppo Contador, I've seen Vino, AC, AS, DM, RG, I think 2 Liquigas, I think both Sanchez, CE, LL, and a bunch of others. Morzine-Avoriaz isn't as hard as la Ramaz, but with the heat we should see some more attrition.

EDIT: Vino on the attack?

Vino on the attack?

This could get interesting if he keeps his gap on the descent. :)

I'm impressed with Ryder Hesjedal. Nice riding after just being thrust into the "GC role" for Garmin after the VV crash.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

They just said Vino actually came back and got water for the team - that is not the Vino we know.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

The Armstrong group has sat up and are no longer chasing the Contador group.
Looks like Lance will be going for stage wins now instead. ;)

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Wow. Schleck and Sanchez drop Contador.

Schleck with the win!
Evans in yellow.
