Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

From what I heard he has a hell of a motor and decent quickness, but it'll be an uphill battle for him to crack the squad. St. Louis is loaded with DBs already.

Then he should be in good shape considering he isn't a defensive back.

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

Not a good day for Cleveland Brown receivers. First Josh Gordon is facing a year-long suspension for marijuana usage, and Nate Burleson breaks his arm... again. Unlike last year, there was no pizza involved.

Well, of all the teams to draft Manziel, I said Cleveland could be one of the worst. I basically said, "Well, looks like the Browns just drafted Manziel as their new RB." Now it looks to be even more true... Yikes.

Oh God, Fox News would have had a field day with that one.

It's being said that he has a quick first step, but lacks overall speed, and is small for a down lineman in the NFL.

Too much is being made of him being SEC Defensive PotY, IMO. 9 of his 11.5 sacks came from 3 games against Arkansas St., Vanderbilt, and Florida. His combine numbers were in line with a DB, not a DE. He seems like a special teamer to me, maybe an ILB....

NFL.com projected him as 7th round to Priority free agent.

I see the board has started unsubscribing threads you post to on mobile again.

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

Wouldn't MSNBC be the ones who have a field day on that one? Why would fox care?

My inbox would be filled with:

Minnesota to host 2018 Super Bowl

I was listening to the talking idiots on SportCenter (yeah, I know, my bad) and they had Indianapolis as the favorite, with the Vikings as a poor third.

It really could have gone to any of the three cities. Indianapolis did an absolutely great job when they hosted in 2012. New Orleans was 10 for 10 all-time when being a finalist, and is celebrating their tercentennial as a city in 2018. Minnesota got a buttload of taxpayer support for the new stadium, and the owners really like to award that. I thought that New Orleans would be one of the final two, and whoever got knocked out between Minnesota and Indy would swing their votes to the other to give that city the victory. I'm happy for the Twin Cities...now if we can only get a rule change to allow the host team to automatically play in the Super Bowl, I might be able to watch the Vikings play in a Super Bowl in my lifetime. :p:D:D

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

They had to go Minnesota. It really wasn't even a debate. If the NFL wants to continue to use the Super Bowl as a carrot (maybe the primary carrot) to have taxpayers fund these billion-dollar palaces, you need to keep your promise on giving them one. Otherwise you can be ****ed sure that well will dry up in a heartbeat.

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

I am so hoping there's a crippling blizzard, hurricane force winds and subzero temperatures on the weekend of the game.

Man, that's more than enough reason for me not to like the idea of having the Super Bowl come back to Minnesota.

Isn't the new Vikings stadium going to have a roof?

Yes, but getting to the game (and getting around the city) can still be a nightmare! Hell, close the airport and people won't even be able to fly in for the game!

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

Of course you do, you're a dick.

Actually, I was really rooting for (and still am) a Super Bowl played in a snowstorm. Of course, the pansies in MN wanted a roof, instead of using cold weather to the team's advantage, so snow wouldn't matter in this case.

By the time the new stadium opens, if you're in downtown Mpls, there shouldn't be an issue at all. The skyway system will be open when the game starts, so people could walk indoors pretty much from Target Center all the way to Humpty Dump II, and I'd expect the skyway system to stay open late specially for the game. Currently, there's over seven miles of skyway, and by game time, with how far away the stadium is from downtown proper, it will be at that eight mile mark.

As to the airport, we're pretty good at removing snow around here. Firstly, we don't get the 24" snowfalls the way you do out there. Second, we get snow so often, and the State of MN will want to make a special effort that weekend, that we won't have any issues with snow management that weekend.

About the airport: When MN played at CC two years ago, a superstorm hit the MSP area. The team got diverted to Omaha, but I was lucky enough to land. DESPITE during the flight, the pilot announced that MSP went from 2 runways to 1 runway, and we were unsure of where we were headed (Omaha or MSP). Landed, and while my ride was snowed in, heard the dispatchers call every taxi company and told them to send ALL the taxis. Exact quote "I don't care where they are. Send ALL your taxis here. NOW." It was about a 30 minute wait, but not bad considering the amount of people that had to leave the airport (NO ONE was on the roads, really, EXCEPT for taxis).

Re: Super Bowl XLVIII and NFL Thread: Sherman's March to Jersey

I'm not worried about the weather. A massive blizzard would be the worst case, but even those don't last more than a couple days, and the Super Bowl is more than just a weekend event. People will have time to get here. Also, late January/early February isn't really the time of year that we'd normally get big storms. I'm guessing it will be just fine. It will most likely be really cold, but like was mentioned, we have miles of skyways, and maybe, just maybe the people from other parts of the country should just grow a set of balls and deal with the cold.

I'll be making my home available for rental during the SB if you're interested. But not to Priceless because he refuses to grow gills.
