Sun Devil Hockey

Maybe I'm confusing NCAA rules with NHL rules. But if a player makes a motion in close proximity to opposing player, with stick above shoulders, even if they don't hit the player it is high sticking. But video shows to me the ASU players arm/hand jerking at the same time as the stick being there, evidence of contact. But its history, just irritating that it could have cost the game. Would be different if they weren't tied immediately prior to that, and only 2+ minutes left in the game.

Unfortunately for ASU, if it was indeed high sticking or slashing (and I think it was one or the other and I have seen a couple of views that I don't think were shown on the broadcast) the fact that the minor wasn't called meant that the only thing the officials could look at is whether it went off the glove. Replay can't result in a minor, only a major. I think the rule should be like too many men: it would disallow the goal but not result in a minor penalty.

Now it comes out that the goal was called off by the referee because he thought it was high sticking. But he (forgot?) never followed through with the signal.......what a crock. Next contract we need to provide the referees.

Any recommendations on buying tickets to the BC game Friday night? Prices seem insanely high. Do you recommend SRO tickets? Thanks

Every game has "insanely" high ticket prices. I'll give ASU credit. This is one of the few times I've seen a team go from a small barn into a bigger building & maintain the raucous atmosphere. We'll see if it maintains, especially since making the NCAA'S seems doubtful this year.

As to SRO, there shouldn't be many students around so you may be able to sneak into the student section to sit. No guarantees though.

Thanks fellas, ended up in section 113 high up $83 per ticket. Any suggestions for pregame bar/restaurant?

Go Eagles!

Go a few pages back in this thread, likely around late summer/early fall. I listed many high quality, iconic, historical and fun bars/grills/restaurants nearby or in Tempe.

Found it with a 2 word search........

Great article for reference for anyone traveling to Tempe for a hockey game. I would add:
The Coach House (bar) for an overwhelming sensory overload when the Christmas lights are up,
Los Olivos for arguably the best Mexican food in Scottsdale & has been there since the 1940's, just a block from Old Town
Rusty Spur - a ritzy dive bar with live music in Old Town.

So, the NCHC's gimp feels it has the right to dictate terms to the rest of the conference and blackball ASU. It would be funny if it weren't so indicative of that place's culture.

Maybe Miami doesn't have the money to pay their share of getting ASU to join NCHC??? ;) wink ;) Maybe it doesn't work for their travel budget. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors....

Sol Diablo what's the deal with knowing when ASU games are on the Roku/Pac12 free TV channel like when they played Minnesota? Are any of their other streaming options on Roku? I have Flo & ESPN+ & like to flip around between games, but tend to skip ASU since I'm not gonna watch on my phone...

The only games I've been able to watch on TV are either on the PAC12 Network (subscription from various cable vendors) or on ASU Live Stream. There I use either my Amazon Firestick to access DISH as they carry PAC12 Network, access DISH directly & PAC 12 Network, or connect my computer to the TV & stream from it, or cast from my phone to the TV.

I go to https://thesundevils.com/sports/mens-ice-hockey/schedule/2022-23
then to the game that's being shown on that date & time, click on watch to get the video.

I just got a Roku TV so I'll have to see if I can get to the game tonight through ROKU without using a Firestick or anything else. I'll let you know.......
