Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

Simmons ego is getting the better of him. Even if 100% right about Goddell (and I haven't been following it close enough) you don't challenge your employer to discipline you. They will, otherwise everybody will start doing it. This was a planned action not some spontaneous outrage. Had he given this the day after Goddell's press conference, I'd be more inclined to believe it was genuine.

Simmons did the very thing that ESPN does all too frequently: instead of reporting sports news or commenting on sports news, he became sports news.

The panel for that discussion will include the following people: Chris Berman, Cris Carter, Mike Ditka, Adam Schefter, Tom Jackson, Keyshawn Johnson, Jon Gruden, Mike Tirico, Stuart Scott, Steve Young and Ray Lewis.

Up to 11 men, all between the ages of 39 and 74 will sit at the table for a domestic violence discussion on ESPN. Zero women. Victims of domestic violence in America are most likely to be women aged 20-24.

This will look like when the House invited a dozen men to talk about birth control.

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

ESPN proves once again they just don't get it. Men only aside, why in the actual **** is Ray Lewis a part of this panel?

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

Ok. First I admit to liking non mainstream sports like curling and cricket.

I'm watching curling on ESPN3, and we're down to the last rock in the last end for the win / tie / extras and the broadcast cuts out "The event has ended". Really? Maybe to you whippersnapper in Bristol, but not to me!

*Derrick Rose first wears I Can't Breathe shirt*

"Oh, hey, that's pretty neat!"

*LeBron wears I Can't Breathe shirt days later*

"What a social activist! How incredible is it that he's decided to take charge on this issue. Who else would step up like this to try to raise awareness? The King certainly cares about all his people!"

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

Torn tonight. Last night a record 20 round shootout happened, and they actually did it's highlight it real time. With picture in picture quite often. I'm no fan of the shootout, but it was nice to see the attention that hockey got.

Then the breaking news about Jay Cutler and Jim Harbaugh. One got benched and the other is considering. Instead of leaving it at that, it was about 40 min of talking about that. Ugh.

That'll happen when the Bills make the playoffs. :D

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

I cannot stand their USELESS stats about matchups....On the bottom line this AM (this is the worst one evah).....OSU and Oregon played for the ncaa BB title in 1939. WHO THE BLANK CARES AND WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE PRICE OF TEA IN CHINA!? Give me a break.

Re: Still Complaining About ESPN...

ESPN is scheduling the Consolation Bowl for Alabama and Florida State.

Well that's a lot more interesting than their frequent oddball/hyper-specific stats (this guy has the most rebounds per game in games played against former teammates during the fourth week of January) that litter SportsCenter on a regular basis.
