St. Norbert College, 2014-15 - The Drive for Five

Re: St. Norbert College, 2014-15 - The Drive for Five

Ouch. I saw him play a number of times on the video feed and two games live in Lewiston last year - he is an exceptional athlete. I hope he heals quickly and, if it is his desire, he still gets a crack at playing some professional hockey. I have little doubt the Green Knights will rally around their new 'tender....sometimes a little adversity makes the team stronger. That is not to say he won't be missed....

Now that we've had some time to let Jake's injury sink in, what are everyone's thoughts on the rest of the season? Are the D men gonna pull it together? Can the Knights count in outscoring their opponents?
Kujava has played well at times and has looked pretty bad other times.
I still see them getting to the Harris cup final. Once there the puck can bounce either way.
Let's pull together as fans, get off our butts, and make some noise.

It would be great if the boys can finish in that 2 spot. If they can go on a 4-game win streak starting Friday, they should be able to pass up LF who has two left with MSOE and Adrian. All we need is a tie in points with LF. That means they just have to drop one of their remaining 4 if we can win out. I would much rather face LF at home than on the road. No guarantees in hockey, but at least the boys know what is needed.

Also…my prayers are with Coach Wick. Yet another reminder of how unimportant hockey can be in the scheme of life.

Re: St. Norbert College, 2014-15 - The Drive for Five

In pondering our chances for the balance of this season, I think the play of our D corp will be critical to our success.
The Adrian series again featured too many turnovers and errant passes from the D corp in our own zone. As a result, the Bulldogs spent too much time buzzing our net..
With a strong effort from the D corp, Kujava should play with more confidence and settle into the full time job.
If we can shut down the opponent's offense, we can score enough goals to win our remaining four conference games.
With that, I think that there is a very good chance that LFC loses one of their remaining conf games and we take over the second position going into the conf playoffs...

I think this is an opportunity for Kujava to step up and establish himself as the front runner for the #1 job next fall. If he gets this team in the NCAA tournament, he's done good work.

I think it shouldn't be forgotten how badass last season's group of seniors was. Those guys straight-up weren't going to be denied...

It doesn't seem Kujava has what it takes to be the #1 guy.
Next year it will be a freshman goalie, or possibly a transfer. O'Brien turned out well for St. Norbert.

Minnesota State - Mankato has a Junior, Soph, and a Fresh on the roster. Maybe one of those is looking to leave. Their Junior has started most of the games. Maybe the Freshman? ;)

Looks like the Kujava came from the USHL,I would think he would have the talent to tow the line.

Tony is perfectly capable. Jacabson was the tender at the NAHL's Janesville Jets in 2010-11 and he was replaced the following season by Kujava. Both played 43-45 games in their final NAHL season. Kujava actually put up slightly better numbers. Jacobson is a stud, but I think knowing he's "the guy" will be huge for Tony.

He sure did, but it sounds like you forgot BJ's first season with SNC in '08-''09...

I never agreed with the rotation of O'Brien and Bashor. Once he got consistent playing time he was much better.

There, I talked myself into thinking Kujava is capable.

Sounds like something from Star Trek - Deep Space Nine ;)

Congrats to Joe Perry as he was called up by Iowa of the AHL yesterday.
They are affiliated with the Minnesota Wild...

That is awesome - congrats to him!!! Always great to see D3 guys get to play at that level. The Wild will now have two former D3 guys on the roster - Hobart alumn Brad Richards got called up around the holidays.

If the stone isn't bumpin' tonight I'd be ****ed if I were a player. This place used to be like Lambeau in the 90's. No one won there. Now it's becoming more frequent that opponents come in a get a W.
MAKE SOME NOISE PEOPLE, OR STAY HOME!!
It's ridiculous when you get told to sit down after a goal because the person behind you can't see.
Cheer on your team whIle you can. You don't know how long this run is going to last.

Re: St. Norbert College, 2014-15 - The Drive for Five

doesn't help when the loudest guy there yells at the ref to check the rulebook at halftime.

Yes. He really said that...

Re: St. Norbert College, 2014-15 - The Drive for Five

Amazing as it might sound, we are still just two points out of second place in the NCHA, despite a four game losing streak...
...the only positive I can come up with after tonight.

Re: St. Norbert College, 2014-15 - The Drive for Five

SNC appears to be getting their mojo back after posting their third straight shutout win this weekend (5 - 0 and 6 - 0 over Lawrence).
It is just the ninth time in D3 history that a team has run off three consecutive shutouts and the fifth time in SNC history: Jones with three, Jacobson with one and now Kujava.
Kujava looks to be getting more confidant in net. He has five shutouts this season in his 10 starts....pretty amazing stat there..
Just keep winning!!!
