St. Norbert 2013-14 - a new mountain to climb on the way back to the top

GB Puck Fan

It's A Great Day For Hockey
Looks like it's time to start a new season thread.

Green & Gold scrimmage on Oct. 26. Season starts Nov. 1.

Meanwhile, Tommy Cianflone and Maris Ziedens were honored today at the football game as part of the ceremonies for inducted into the athletic hall of fame. Longtime play-by-play guy Tim Derozier also honored. Congrats to all.

(And, yeah, sorry about the typo in the previous thread title... I couldn't seem to edit it in the title itself, so it was short enough I just deleted and recreated it.)

Couple pre season comments:
1 -- Need to replace the 75 pts that Stroh and Keefer delivered last season.
2 -- Need to replace top d-man (Ekstrom).
Possible solutions:
1 -- Scoring...Bradshaw, Zepeda, Baptista and Perry need to add to their production. Transfer Mike Hill should also help out on the score sheet.
2 -- Defense..New arrival..Malliaras looks like he is the logical replacement for Ekstrom...has looked very good in C practices.
3 -- New arrivals...looking for immediate contribution from Malliaras, Hill and Wees.
Sleeper could be the freshman forward, Rulevicius.

I hope Rulevicius brings some needed toughness as well. In his NAHL days he played physical and skated with a chip on his shoulder but he can bring a little scoring to the table at times. Offense needs to be more consistent.

I have described him as a "block of granite on skates"..this kid is really put together!!
Three of the new forwards: Hill, Pavek and Rulevicius have brought some good size to the position...something we needed to address..

have my season tickets in the cupboard, all games noted on my work calendar AND personal phone; just want the season to get here :)

Rulevicius is a beast. Not tall....but built like a tank. Biggest, squarest chin I've ever seen on a young man.
When he played for the Janesville Jets in the NAHL a few years ago, I think they used to send him off the bus first just to intimidate the other team. He's scary looking! :)

I don't think I will be going out on a limb too far in saying, this kid could be the sleeper of the new freshmen group.
Good skater, big body....I could see him being a very strong 4th line foward to start, plus get some time on the penalty kill.
Found a photo..square jaw and thick neck...let's get physical..

Update/thoughts on green/white game?
I don't comment much until the regular season starts, but if the line of Cullen Bradshaw, Zepeda and Cooper get paired together this weekend...look out!!
Speed ++++ and scoring touch!!

It is amazing that the idea of getting in for free can do for the student section. Nice decision by SNC this year. Hope the section continues to stay full and active.

They used to charge students?

Re: St. Norbert 2013-14 - a new mountain to climb on the way back to the top

Yes. This is the first year that students are admitted free. Considering the cost and distance from campus it was always impressive that SNC got the 200 or so students per game that they did.
