St Louis Finalist for 2013 or 2014 Frozen Four

Re: St Louis Finalist for 2013 or 2014 Frozen Four

So is the only thing we know that St Louis is a finalist and Buffalo is not?

Although reading the tea leaves in this thread, a floating barge in one of the Great Lakes and Fenway Park are coming on strong as contenders too.

Re: St Louis Finalist for 2013 or 2014 Frozen Four

Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, both Dakotas, and Montana.

I think Michigan is more like Union... #26 on the Worst States list. ;)

I'd throw Bama in there behind Michigan as well. Up north, Michigan has some pretty country with hills, lakes, etc. and Isle Royale is a fantastic trip. Having said that, I think 26 is about right.

I'm mildly curious as to what two states STATEDUDE thinks are better than Michigan.

Re: St Louis Finalist for 2013 or 2014 Frozen Four

To get back to the origin of this thread, has the NCAA published a list of finalists for the 13-15 Frozen fours. They were supposed to in Late April, with teh selections announced at the end of June. Hans anyone heard nanything besides St Louis? I know Pittsburg, Kansas City were preparing bids ..

Re: St Louis Finalist for 2013 or 2014 Frozen Four

"Fenway is a dump" says the guy from Detroit. You know, the city that even people from Calcutta are afraid to walk the streets in.

that is freaking hysterical...............for that i send a Regina pizza (North End location ONLY BTW) to you;)

I laugh at your North End pizza. Caserta's is better than anything in the North End of Boston. :)

Re: St Louis Finalist for 2013 or 2014 Frozen Four

Lets see...I can think of 4 states worse than Michigan. Arkansas, Wisconsin, New Jersey and Mississippi! 47, not so much.
Jersey? you kiddin me? i LOVE Jersey! a tad too crowded but dont think its all Newark and Camden.........

Re: St Louis Finalist for 2013 or 2014 Frozen Four

I prefer Caserta's as well but we have excellent pizza, sir;)

It's not bad. I suppose if you are stuck in an 'ok' city like Boston and can't get to a fantastic metropolis such as Providence, the North End will do. ;)

Re: St Louis Finalist for 2013 or 2014 Frozen Four

Pittsburgh is a finalist, according to RMU's AD this morning.

...and contrary to what the thread title would have you believe, it looks like St. Louis is not...?

Robert Morris AD Craig Coleman joined the FAN Morning Show to discuss the departure of Mike Rice to Rutgers. Coleman also said they are currently looking for a replacement and one option could be the 29 yr. old Asst. Head Coach. Just out of curiosity Paul Alexander asked Coleman about the status of the Frozen Four, and Coleman broke the news that Pittsburgh is a Finalist along with Boston and Philadelphia for the 2013 or 2014 Frozen Four.

St Louis has been mentioned all over StL papers so I doubt it isn't. THE RMU AD may have just mentioned other previously unmentioned locations. I believe there should be 5 finalists (typical), so my best guess is that the finalists are Pittsburgh, Boston, Philadelphia, St Louis and Milwaukee.

Re: St Louis Finalist for 2013 or 2014 Frozen Four

Aren't they also awarding the 2015 Frozen Four this time around?

No. This round is "only two". That is because the NCAA awarded an 'extra' Frozen Four to Tampa for 2012. They were going to only award three (as usual) but according to all the reports frm back then, they just awarded four instead of three.

Awarding two for this round puts the three-year cycle back in place.

Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, both Dakotas, and Montana.

I have to disagree on the Dakotas and Montana. The Badlands of N. and S. Dakota are better than anything lower Michigan has to offer and the Black Hills of S. Dakota are equal to anything in the U.P. Montana has Mountains, that alone put it ahead of Michigan. (I consider the U.P. to be a different state as it has so little in common with lower MI)

Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas? Yep, agree 100%.

If those are the finalists I would almost think it would end up with Pittsburgh, Philly and Boston. St. Louis and DC hosted too recently to get one so quickly IMO. Sure some people will say its too long between a "Western" Frozen Four but I disagree, with St. Paul in 2011 that covers the Western location for a few years and Milwaukee, Denver, Chicago (if they ever bid) or St. Louis could get the 2015 or 2016 bid and all would be even in the "We can't have more than X years between North, South, East, West, Canadian Frozen Fours" concerns.

Personally I don't think it should matter, East, West, etc. Put it in the city/arena that does the best job of presenting their bid and tell the rest to do a better job next time. (Boston, are you listening?)
