Re: St. Lawrence University: Big Time, Old Time Hockey 2014-15

Glad to see the Saints playing well so early in the season. This team will only get better as the season progresses.

Re: St. Lawrence University: Big Time, Old Time Hockey 2014-15

Now that there is a little more activity around these parts, are any of you planning on being at the SLU/Clarkson home and home at the end of the month, or the following weekend at Yale/Brown?

Hope to see some familiar faces at either location, I'll be at both series.

Got a committment from '98 Forward Kaden Pickering (Madrid, NY), out of Northwood. Reports say he looked very good at the Select-16 camp this summer, where another North Country kid, Jordan Robert, looked very good as well and has committed to Clarkson. There's a couple more local kids staying local, great to see.

It looks like Pickering would be enrolling in the fall of 2017.

I wrote up the Pickering commitment as well as Henry Bowlby, who committed last month, today: http://overtheboards.net/st-lawrences-saints-net-up-and-comers-henry-bowlby-and-kaden-pickering/

I haven't caught Pickering but hear good things. Northwood has a strong influx of talent recruited to Lake Placid this year. Bowlby is one of the biggest 'late-bloomers' in Minnesota, coming out of powerhouse Edina, and he's really come on strong the last nine months..

This is a must read article on SLU recruit Henry Bowlby as well as other Saint recruits. The future is looking very bright for Skating Saint hockey!

Re: St. Lawrence University: Big Time, Old Time Hockey 2014-15

And I thought this was going to be a relaxing rebuilding year....... 5-2 at Miami after two. We can do this.

Re: St. Lawrence University: Big Time, Old Time Hockey 2014-15

GREAT WIN ST. LAWRENCE !!!!!
Please ...... one more ..... I had you sweeping !!!!

Re: St. Lawrence University: Big Time, Old Time Hockey 2014-15

UVM fan here.. nice job tonight. SLU is my favorite ECAC team.. looking forward to our series this year.

Back to back goals now with about 7:00 to go in the 3rd and it's now only 5-4 SLU ... Timeout SLU! :(

Re: St. Lawrence University: Big Time, Old Time Hockey 2014-15

Okay, so we can make it official now, SLU wins 5-4 over Miami of Ohio! Great start, dreadful end!!! A wins a win, but we really need to shore up our defense. Nice effort all around tonight Saints, keep continuing to overachieve :)

Re: St. Lawrence University: Big Time, Old Time Hockey 2014-15

Tense at the end, but fun to listen to. Yes, defense needs to step up, but I like the balanced scoring.

Re: St. Lawrence University: Big Time, Old Time Hockey 2014-15

Congratulations Saints
ECAC was 3-1-1 today - two of those wins against tough NCHC teams - I think we are back on top. :)
I don't want to put you under any sort of undo pressure but I picked you to sweep.

Re: St. Lawrence University: Big Time, Old Time Hockey 2014-15

Not sure if any of you guys saw it, but Flanagan was the target of a brutal and high hit over in the SEL the other day. Hope he recovers quickly and gets back to playing.

That certainly was a nasty hit. Kind of a blind sided one too besides being high. Really got his bell rung. Hope he is OK. Didn't realize Kyle wasn't with the Flyers anymore.

Nice upset tonight. I guess we must have some snipers on our team as 5 goals on 16 shots is pretty outstanding!!! :) I haven't seen a game yet in person or on line but certainly it appears Hayton is the difference in all the games so far. Amazing what can happen when a goalie stops everything he should and some he shouldn't.

I agree, and it will be even more amazing if he doesn't have to stop as many as he's had to-this poor kid must be getting shell-shocked. Great gut-check win, beautifully spread out scoring, especially among the underclassmen (oh what a future!) And Horn says hello just 1:53 into his 1st game--thank you Minnesota. But we've got to give Hayton some help and cut back on the SOG's. (although Miami is a high SOG team.) No matter what happens, it looks like it will be a very entertaining season and I can't wait for Gluchowski and Purmal return.

The SOG and faceoffs' statistics were hugely in Miami's favor. That said and what I really liked, was the way the team responded after Miami scored 2 goals in 0:14 with just over 7:00 left to cut it to 5-4, and Greg called a timeout. There was no panic, and the team stared adversity in the face and overcame it. Given our schedule, 3-2-0 to date is very impressive. Nice work by everybody on the Saints and a great TO call by Greg and his staff.
