St. Lawrence University 2013-2014: Carey, Carey, carry us to Placid ... And beyond?

Re: St. Lawrence University 2013-2014: Carey, Carey, carry us to Placid ... And beyon

Well, the UVM team from 87-88 was pretty darn good too with Leclair, Boyce, McDonough, Miller, etc. We had their number, they had Harvard's number and Harvard had ours. This shows me how strong the mental aspect of the game is because I think part of it was they just didn't believe they could beat us. Still don't like you guys in Hockey East. It doesn't feel right even after all these years.

Got 6.. I was at those games at the Gutt...You more than had UVM's number. SLU was dominant. That said you are right we had Harvard's. UVM has been good at developing very good NHL talent but not as good on the team level. LeClair, St Louis, Thomas, Miller, Sharp. between them have quite a bit of hardware.

You are right on being out of ECAC...nothing like the North Country road trips...

Well, at least we still get to play you guys year in and year out. Come back to the ECAC, I could think of a certain team (cough, your replacement, cough) that I would like to see you replace ;) **I'm kidding by the way**

Who are the Saints playing in the quarterfinals, do they know yet?

It depends upon the winner of tomorrow nights games. If Clarkson and RPI win, we are at Union. If either Dartmouth or Princeton win, we are at Colgate. If Dartmouth and Princeton win, we are at Quinnipiac.

Hopefully they keep up the good play on the road.

One can only hope! It's going to be very difficult no matter which one of the three we face this coming week. We have to keep up with what has made us turn it around the past few weeks and work our tails off and it could happen. I would love nothing more than to see them play in Lake Placid the following weekend!!!

I wouldn't kid about that. I'd make that trade with HEA in a heartbeat! Seriously --- And I haven't even ever had my comments censored by anyone from that suburb of New Haven.

That was a great game to watch. My favorite quote from the stream late in the third by Greg who said something to the effecf of "and Brown now has 19 guys on the ice and the ref has swallowed his whiste."

I'm hoping for Colgate. Union and Q-Pac have too many skill players for a three game series. Colgate's had a good year but they seem to me more beatable on any given night.

Btw, I believe that Gavin Bayreuther is now the top point scoring defenseman in the nation, freshman or otherwise. I wonder if that's going to push him up into the second or third round in the draft -- where the temptations to leave early can get ugly.

Re: St. Lawrence University 2013-2014: Carey, Carey, carry us to Placid ... And beyon

Gavin Bayreuther leads all defensemen in the country in scoring. He is only a freshman. How team USA did not pick him for the World Juniors is still mind boggling.

It's a good thing. Appleton is a tough place to play in the playoffs. Plus Brown might arrive demoralized given how they blew their own chance at hosting this past weekend. Still, you guys will have your hands full, as Brown is a team made for the playoffs.

Allow me to quote myself here from last Sunday, as I don't know if you would've won the series had it been played at Meehan. I think home ice played a huge part. Congrats on the series win. Might be seeing you next weekend if Princeton or Dartmouth pull off the upset.

No kidding. That replacement fits about as well as a high-profile porn star in the Mormon Tabernacle choir. They belong in HEA for the exact same reason the leagues split.

So what? It might have been a different outcome if we played the Russian Olympic team too! You are a fool if you bet on or against this team in any game or series.

Some of us were wondering if Pete Lappin was in town to watch Nick play this week end ? It's been so long I'm sure I wouldn't recognize him now.

I heard the announcers say that one of the Lappin's were there yesterday. I wasn't sure which one and I missed exactly what they said. Got6, do you know the answer to this question?

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but this sure does feel nice to be able to relax tonight and watch some good hockey that doesn't involved being stressed out throughout! I have my hopes for results tonight, but I have no control. The chips will fall where they fall and hopefully the guys work their tails off all week and come read to play regardless of the competition.

I would not be surprised if Q goes to HE eventually, after Notre Dame decides the travel is just too big of a PITA. They do fit the HE profile better, and they seem to be pursuing that sort of image (rock it in sports to raise your regional profile) very aggressively.

RIT would be a terrific replacement. Great academics and a nice fit with Clarkson and RPI in mission. Plus I think an Ithaca-Rochester trip would break a lot of hearts. :)

I've got no issues with Q; I just don't think they are going to be comfortable with the ECAC's deliberate hamstringing of athletics as secondary to academics.

The other possibility is actually... Notre Dame. It's marginally easier travel for them, they have the academics, and the administration at least propounds ECAC ideals.

It was my impression Chris was there, and I'm sure Pete was too but he probably wasn't chatting it up in the office since he has to explain why his kid made about the worst college choice possible.

I'd want UVM back or go after Holy Cross before RIT, but any of the above before the self-promoting, unloveable Q-Peck!

Clarkson wins 3-2 and Dartmouth wins 5-4 (RPI blew a 2 goal 3rd period lead and blew it at home again! Yikes!!!) ...So we get Colgate next weekend from Starr Rink in a best of 3 series ...

Some tasty matchups:

Cornell vs Clarkson - Who knows?
Q-Peck vs Yale - This is going to be a good one. Yale has to win or their season ends. Q-Peck will be somewhere near the cutoff for an at-large if they lose. Who knows again but lets go Yale!!!!!!
Colgate vs. SLU - Colgate ****piled us twice. We got off to very bad starts in both games. Coaches don't feel we match up well but we better find a way or....
Union versus Dartmouth - Union is tough. I doubt Dartmouth has a chance but they showed some fight coming back to win two straight close ones. Should be good hockey.
