Of course SLU is the first team to win its opening-round series. Did anyone expect anything different?

I try not to expect anymore with this team. That way I can't be disappointed, only pleasantly surprised ;)

Sweep, sure why not. Looks like game 3's in Troy and Potsdam, so who knows who we get next.

Yale winning tonight eliminated the possibility of Cornell, so it is down to Union, Colgate or Quinnipiac as possible quarterfinal series. If the home teams win tomorrow we go to Union, if both roads teams win tomorrow we go to Quinnipiac. One home team win and one road team win tomorrow (in any combination) and we go to Colgate ... Not quite sure who is our best match up to be honest

I feel the same way as I did about this round: it doesn't really matter.

I know I don't want any part of Union, that's for sure!!! Heck, I don't want a part of Colgate or Q-Pac either! Who the heck knows anymore ... Where's my crystal ball when I need it? :p

Seniors won their last two home games . . . they made the quarterfinals . . . I don't care if they have to play the Blackhawks.

True for the good instances you mentioned above, but I think making it to the ECAC Championship weekend (especially since it is a short drive away in Lake Placid) should be something the team should want. The right match up could make a huge difference in getting them over that hump. Not that they have any say in the games tomorrow anyways, but you know what I mean ;)

Congrats on the wins. SLU is a great program and represents the ECAC well. Just make sure to beat Cornell if you end up playing them ..from a UVM fan.

Thank you Kdaddy1968 ... Good luck to UVM as well, would love to see you guys win Hockey East! :)

Unfortunately, we can't play Cornell next round. Yale winning tonight took that match up out of the books (we may end up meeting later in the tournament though). I think we would have matched up well with Cornell, at least more so than the other three potential opponents.

My comment on Cornell was just a general comment :D (never like Cornell Alum). And much appreciated on the good wishes for UVM. It is good to see both programs progressing. I know you had a hard year but SLU is always great to watch. I was around for the Lappin's and Jamie Baker. Those were some teams to watch. They beat the crap out of UVM ;)

We have had an up and down year, that is for sure! Nothing a series win next weekend and a good showing in Lake Placid couldn't help to turn around though ;)

The Lappin, Baker and company days were a little before my time. I have been going to these games since around the mid 90's. I remember Burke Murphy being in school when I was a kid and just starting to go to the games. It didn't take me long to get hooked, that's for sure :)

slu fan.. depends on which side of the score sheet you were on ;)... but man I would take that 87-88 SLU team against just about any team out there today. I would love to see that team play the 95-96 UVM team with St Louis, Perrin, Ruid and Thomas in goal... that would be a great match up.

Well, the UVM team from 87-88 was pretty darn good too with Leclair, Boyce, McDonough, Miller, etc. We had their number, they had Harvard's number and Harvard had ours. This shows me how strong the mental aspect of the game is because I think part of it was they just didn't believe they could beat us. Still don't like you guys in Hockey East. It doesn't feel right even after all these years.

As for SLU in the next round, we have not matched up against Colgate well this year, but I'd like a crack at them. I want no part of Union on their own ice. I'd also be happy with a shot at Q-Peck. I have the feeling at least one team will upset tomorrow. I hope BP's team can pull it out. Cornell at Lynah...beatable but not fun. Would love to have a crack at anyone in LP. But that is a big mountain to climb. I guess I with Tim on this....it just doesn't matter. Still, I do have a feeling that those guys in Schenectady are praying for a Princeton or Dartmouth win. They are the best team in the league but I doubt they want to play us.

A good weekend for the boys, and glad the Seniors got the sweep. I thought the officiating was good last night and pitiful tonight. Nothing worse than gutless refs. Very good weekend for Essery, Wenny, Sweetman, Baker, Bayreuther, Wick, Dahl and Hudson played well tonight. Only guy who struggled at times was Graham, but he is still coming back from an injury and he'll get better with this experience under his belt. Nice getting all three goals tonight by Freshmen. Props to Brown, they have some very good players.

I gotta wonder how patient Harvard is going to be with Donato. That team shouldn't have finished 11th. I think Yale is going to be tough to knock off.

Congrats to all the Saints. A good result, solid effort and some key performances. This is a new season, let's hope we over-achieve and find some consistency in this one.
