Hopefully next year we aren't playing short 2 players in the quarterfinals ;)

Looks like a good group. Lots of different roles will be filled by this class, many of whom will likely be in tight competition for ice time.

Thanks for the link Tayt. I'd forgotten that article was going to be there. Sounds like a good, solid recruiting class and we can hope that several of them blossom into good players. Sounds like Ward will be the guy to help get Carey the puck in the scoring areas.
What I most hope for is to get some more balanced scoring out of all the lines.....that and some defensive responsibility.

Not sure about the comments in the article about all the penalty minutes. I hope that reference is there just to highlight we have some grit and toughness coming in but as you know at the D-1 level being in the box is not necessarily something to be valued (staying out of it is!!!).

I'm interested to see what Matt Carey is like. Although he is a very different player than Greg, it does sound like he has some real offensive upside.

In goal....we do need some competition particularly the year after Wenny departs.

11 players is a lot.......how does that fit in for scholarships in the next two years???? Hopefully we still have plenty of room for more players to come in.

All in all it sounds very positive and may I add I'm proud and happy to call myself a Saints fan!!!! Great school, better people and I love our coaching staff. I think we have assembled a coaching team that will grow the program in the years ahead.

From the SLU website, our schedule is below. We will be tested early and often, and play our first-4 ECAC games on the road:

May 10: St. Lawrence University's 2013-14 men's hockey schedule will include teams from the new National Collegiate Hockey Conference, the reconstituted Western Collegiate Hockey Association and a set of teams from Hockey East in addition to its regular Eastern College Athletic Conference schedule.

The Saints, who will open the season with an exhibition game at Appleton Arena against Carleton University of Ottawa on Oct. 7 will host the University of Maine on Oct. 11-12 as part of Homecoming and Hall of Fame weekends to kick off the NCAA portion of the schedule.

The Saints will then play two at new WCHA member Ferris State on Oct. 18-19 and close out the first month of competition with Northeastern at Appleton for two on the 25th and 26th.

A four-game road trip opens league play for the Saints as they will open ECAC competition at defending national champion Yale on Nov. 1 and play at Brown on Nov. 2. They are at Harvard and Dartmouth Nov. 8-9 before hosting Cornell and Colgate on Nov. 15-16. The Saints will close November with two games at RIT on Nov. 22-23 and play a pair at NCHC member North Dakota, which finished the 2012-13 season ranked seventh nationally, on Nov. 29-30.

League play resumes on Dec. 7 with the first of two games against arch-rival Clarkson and a Dec. 14 game at Vermont closes out the 2013 portion of the schedule. Vermont returns to Appleton Arena on Jan. 7 to start the new year and the rematch with Clarkson in Potsdam is scheduled for Jan. 11.

Brown and Yale visit Appleton on Jan. 17-18, the Saints are at Colgate and Cornell on Jan. 24 and 25. Union plays in Canton on Jan. 31 and RPI Feb. 1 with a road trip to Quinnipiac and Princeton following on Feb. 7-8. Dartmouth and Harvard are in Canton on Feb. 14-15 and the Saints are at RPI and Union on Feb. 21-22. The regular season concludes with Princeton at home on Feb. 28 and Quinnipiac on Mar. 1.

In the last month I have been in touch with St. Lawrence University about updating their hockey webcast to high definition for next season. Both Harvard and Yale broadcast in HD last season and watching their games on a HD TV is amazing.

I am happy to let you know that SLU is pursing this webcast update. They do anticipate the cost to be around $5,000 to purchase the necessary video equipment.

As such, any financial assistance you can provide would help move this forward. Any contribution, large or small really will make a difference.

What's the ticket situation like for SLU games? I'm thinking about coming over for the series against Maine but not sure how hard it will be to get tickets. I don't think I would have great odds getting them through the Maine ticket office as I'm not a season ticket holder anymore. That weekend is homecoming which I'm sure attracts some people. Thank you very much for the help.

If you call the SLU box office when they go on sale I wouldn't see a problem obtaining some tickets. They never sell out of standing room tickets either. If you would promise to wear a Saints jersey all weekend, I could guarantee you a ticket. :D

Whenever I go up for RPI/SLU, I just get general admission tickets when I arrive; they have plenty available. There are a few areas that allow seating for Gen-Ad, but the rest is SRO. The sight lines aren't the best, but it's a really nice building.

Even for a homecoming weekend, I doubt the rink will truly sell out. Pretty much the only games that you really need to be there early for to get GA tickets are the Clarkson game(s).

That said, my usual lurking spot is just inside the blue line behind the student section. Hard to see the near side far corner, but other than that it is a pretty good view. I would assume the opposite side, opposite blue line (typically behind the SLU parents) would be a similar view.

Admittedly, unless you are seated in the visitors section closer to the bench, it can be tough(er) to see the same corner I usually have problems with.

I've spent the last couple of times I went up there around that area. Certainly is a good place to view the game (aside from the one corner). Of course, those corners are actually the reason why I usually like to get seats or a spot along the end boards. Sure you have to use some depth perception for the far end of the rink, but you're able to see everything.
