The PP was back again this weekend, we scored three on the man up last night. We looked sharp, crisp passes, good movement and hard/accurate shots on goal. We couldn't have asked for more. Congrats to the Saints on a great showing in Round 1. Having seen the Colgate squad in person LAST weekend, I know they are a talented, albeit young, team and beating them convincingly on consecutive nights is no mean feat. All of that said, I will be rooting for Dartmouth tonight (well, this afternoon for me). I think we match up better against SLU than we do against Brown. SLU plays a much cleaner, "finesse" game, while Brown is a more physical, and at times, borderline "dirty" team. Furthermore, in a moment of complete candor, I will admit that SHOULD Yale lose in the next round, I would MUCH rather have it be to SLU than to (G*d forbid) Brown. The reasons there are two-fold: 1. my admiration of, and respect for, Coach Marsh and 2. the fact that I got to spend some quality time with the Hughes family at the Frozen Four in Tampa last April. They are a great family and Aleca (Yale's Womens' Hockey Captain Emeritus, and 2012 Hockey Humanitarian Honoree ) and her two brothers come by their hockey talents honestly, as George III (Dad) is #6 on Harvard's all-time scoring list, and Allison is a former BU Womens' Captain. Should Yale and SLU meet, I predict a 3-game series. Finally, it's GO BIG GREEN, because I LOVE the idea of Quinnipiac having to play Cornell, and RPI having to play Brown. Should be interesting, to say the least !!!

If we have indeed lost Austin and Stratford, nobody is going to feel sorry for us, and that's the hand that the boys are dealt. Hopefully they can find a way to get it done and we can make some noise.

I think its also important to note that while we did get swept by ylae, both games were 2 goal games, 1 including an ENG. The first loss was just after the hot start we had, while the second sparked our 2nd half run.

If we play like we have been, I think we can play with, and beat, anybody in the league best of 3. Time to buckle down and get it done!

I agree with the above stated. I tend to agree that we match up better with Ylae and really we always have in years past with there style of play. That being said, we need to come out hard next weekend regardless of the opponent. Hopefully we can keep this PP efficiency going as well. Obviously Kyle plays a big part in that as was shown this weekend. Wenny is the big difference as well. If he shows up and we continue the way we have been playing, we should be fine!!!

Well said, HP1015. I agree with the general proposition that SLU's "A-Game" can, on any given night, beat any ECAC team. The same, however, can be said of 3 or 4 others among the remaining other 8. BTW, I have Flanagan, (S)carey, and George IV ALL on my ECAC 1st team, so on any night that Weninger "stands on his head", the other team is in BIG TROUBLE !!!

. I'd go further than that and say all three should be first team All American.

Absolutely. I would say (if Dartmouth advances, especially) that all the teams in the quarterfinals could advance to AC. Cornell appears to have finally decided to start playing good hockey after screwing around the first 4 months, Brown has been playing pretty well and has been getting great goal tending... really nothing would surprise me next weekend. The top 4 could all advance, the bottom 4 could. Just another reason why this is one of the most exciting leagues year after year.

Let's not forget Baker's and Wick's contributions to this run, and the one that's coming up. Right now I would put the first team up against anyone in the country. And from what I saw and heard about the 1st Colgate game, Essery, Gunnar, Doherty, Martin, and Thompson are playing very aggressively. Even the freshman are holding their own. The result is no one can let down against us. Go Saints!

It was great to see this team play in person this weekend. The Saints are clicking and are very dangerous. Me thinks, Ylae will be running into a buzz saw.

I sure hope you're right Spaceman! Btw, I think you were sitting in my section this weekend ... Section P, in the corner, top two or three rows I do believe ... Although it wouldn't surprise me if I am incorrect? :p

Echo a lot of the comments on here! My own are:

We have our work cut out for us. The only one of the top 4 we beat on the road was Q-Pac. No matter who we will play we have to play our best and work out tails off.

Flanny is a special player. He lost a lot of games to injury and is still at 100 apples. Wow. Our first line is as good as any in the country. Like us, I don't think Yale has depth they have had in the past. Too bad about Austin and Stratford. I think the minutes of Baker and Hughes just doubled. Hope Baker remembers the cheap shot he got there in the playoffs and goes for the win with everything in the tank.


Not thrilled with the Yale matchup. Obviously, anyone can be beat, but you gotta beat them twice in three days on home ice. Won't be easy.

Let's hope we can peak in the next two weeks. Really impressed with the numbers of guys like Flanny and Hughes. Cary has kind of worked out too.

Yes we have only beat Quinnipiac on the road of the top four teams. However, Yale was way back in November and Union and RPI were both last weekend without Kyle. I think Ylae will have their hands full. It will be a good series for sure! Let's Go Saints!!!

I just want to say Flanny's performance on Saturday night was as good as a Appleton farewell as I can ever remember seeing. Carey is an absolute goal scoring beast but Flanny is Mr. Hobey.
