St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

Ralph Baer

Let's Go 'Tute!
The North Country visits the Capital District.

Alumni weekend in Troy with the 1985 Championship team being honored.

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

Mr. Sullivan, if you're looking in, could you pick RPI to lose both games?

Please? :)

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

A chance to make a move up the standings. Just make believe each of these teams is Yale and we should do just fine;)

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

See ya there. Will be in attendance both nights.

With the 85 team being honored, should tickets be available for walk-up Friday night, or should I try contacting the SLU ticket office beforehand?

You should be fine to walk up at RPI but to play it safe I would call ahead. Union you may want to call ahead and not try to walk up there.

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

Ive had this weekend circled since the schedule came out months ago.

Especially Saturday nights game.:)

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

Things are getting crowded at the top. And I don't think this weekend's games will do much to un-jumble them. But, I'll be there for both games.

Capital District sweep!!

I think I've entered the Twilight Zone.

I will be at one of the games next weekend, just have to decide which one.

85 team is being honored against Clarkson on Saturday night. Tickets will be easier to come by on Friday against SLU. Clarkson on Saturday may put you out in the pasture on the far east end of HFH with terrible views.

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

Important weekend for 3 of the 4 teams involved. A real chance to move up on the stands and stake a claim for a first round bye.

If it's not an RPI game, tickets will be available at Union.

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

This is a very important weekend for us, and not just because of the standings.
In the past, we always followed up a great game with a real stinker.
Following up the Yale game with similar performances (to the Yale game) will show real maturation. Something that Appert talked about Saturday afternoon.
We need to play hard for 60 minutes both nights. That won't insure victory, but it will help make us the team we are trying to become.
I believe that we will come away with 4 points this weekend, but we can't forget Brown. :(

From the standings alone, obviously the SLU game looks to be the tougher one. But they also play a very physical style. A style that we seem to have more difficulty in adapting to than that of run and gun teams like Yale. The third period up at their rink was one of the worst period we have played all year-I am sure coach SA has addressed this with the troops and I look forward to a completely different approach from our guys this friday. As far as Clarkson, I just hope we don't take them for granted. Their record makes them look like easy prey. I would just love to see us play hard and fast with them and make it two wins against them this year.

Ditto you thoughts - we need to come out swinging Friday night...SLU will be ready. I've always had a great deal of respect for the job Joe Marsh does..he seems to always have his kids prepped.

If nothing else, the Union series taught the squad what to expect with physical teams. The guys need to maintain the tempo and keep moving their feet. This will create opportunities for scoring and in drawing PP's. Yale tried to beat on us and they spent half the night in the box. If we can force SLU to chase us all night, we'll win, IMO.

Actually, the second period up at their rink wasn't exactly one of RPI's best, either, though York managed to keep the Saints off the board despite a 21-3 shots differential.

The '85 team is being honored in different forms over the whole weekend.

There will also be an approximately hour long interactive discussion featuring four players from the 1985 team (Sadeghpour, Dark, Hammond, Servinis) at 4:00 PM on Friday. The first 75 attendees will receive a DVD of the championship game.

The Alumni game will take place on Saturday at 11:00 AM, and an autograph session featuring members of the 1985 team will follow the Saturday game.

Highlights from the 1985 game will be shown between periods on both nights on a projector screen mounted near Section 1.

Should you be unable to make it out to the Field House, RPI TV will be live streaming both games and the 1985 Alumni Discussion at no cost to the viewer. Details will be posted here and in the game thread at a later time. We'll also be providing instant replays on the projector screen in the Field House during both games.

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

RPI is getting these games in the right order, it looks like, based on assertions that they overlooked Brown and were up for Yale. SLU is pretty obviously the tougher game this weekend - Clarkson's last in offense and tied for last in defense - and it comes first, so there's no looking ahead.

Hopefully, the '85 team being around on Saturday will help the team stay up for Clarkson. It's 4 points this weekend or bust after dropping that Brown game. The Yale win kinda made up for it, but it also made the Brown loss more maddening.

We know the younger guys on this team have high aspirations with their sights set on national glory. Having the guys who did it wearing these uniforms can't be anything but inspiring.
