St. Cloud State at North Dakota - For Those of You Who Can Read & Write

Very good. They skate well, work hard, and play their positions well. It's a little difficult to say how good they are--this Sioux team is a question mark.
I agree to a point. This team might not be up to the standard of most UND teams. But I was on the sioux sports forum and some people are saying this scsu team isn't that good. Someone also said there are a lot better teams within and outside of the conference. News flash: We are that good. At least compared to the other NCHC teams. We won the WCHA last year. We made the frozen four. We brought back more goals than any team in college hockey. Not sure why people still doubt this team. But I saw a very hungry team tonight that wasn't satisfied with a road split and has leaders that saw the valleys last year and are going to keep the team motivated. I think we could have a team with single digit losses.

I'm not one of those who questions whether SCSU is for real. They have all the pieces. Look forward to them playing the gophs.

Re: St. Cloud State at North Dakota - For Those of You Who Can Read & Write

I would like to say the only reason why SCSU swept in Grand Forks was that I decided that I was not going to go up there for the series. If I did go up there, UND would have swept. You are welcome. ;)

Hmmm...what happened to cross cheque?

Re: St. Cloud State at North Dakota - For Those of You Who Can Read & Write

As a fan, you never go out and expect a sweep on the road...regardless of who your team is. Two clutch wins and 6 big conference points.

I think the reason that people still question that "SCSU is for real" may be because prior to this weekend they haven't been impressive. Before you ask again, no I didn't watch the Colgate series, but I've heard from multiple people in your fan base that they struggled to get their wins against Colgate, they tied BSU and overall haven't been clicking that well. So now that SCSU has a couple of good wins under their belt, maybe they'll deserve more respect. SCSU also lost a number of their key pieces of their team from last year. Don't be surprised that people aren't crowning them champions after a 5-0-1 record against Colgate, Bemidji and the Whioux. Not bashing, but it surprises me that you're surprised. Good sweep.

P.S. You were Co-Champions of the WCHA. ;)

Your mistake was reading Sioux Sports and taking it seriously.

P.S. Thanks for the wins this weekend?

Re: St. Cloud State at North Dakota - For Those of You Who Can Read & Write

This team still has things to work on no doubt.
We completely changed all 4 lines from Friday to Saturday as the offense isn't clicking yet, the PP really isn't clicking either.
But the D is very solid, Faragher is playing as well as he did last year but more than that there is a confidence in this team that has carried over from last year.
They haven't been rattled.
Motzko stressed scoring first on the road so we can dictate tempo, we gave up the first goal both nights and there was no panic from anyone.
They played their game and got the win, just like we did at Colgate.
Style points don't mean squat, wins do and so far, that's what we're doing.
If fans don't want to give us respect, so what.
This team will earn its respect on the ice, just like it did last year

Didn't even bother looking at the link. But good response to what I thought was a good answer to your question. I can't tell you how little I care about what you think of me or how much you respect me. It's just good to know that you can't think of anything else to say.

QUOTE=GopherFan89;5800361]Woah, slow down there Sparky. As much as I'd like to see SUCS roll UND, I think you need to slow your roll and manage your expectations.

You technically tied with BSU then lost in a shootout and your other games you grinded out (close) wins against Colgate (who?) and Bemidji. Strength of schedule isn't in your favor. Need more time to tell how good they are.

And how are the Whioux depleted? They have more NHL-drafted players than any other team. Young? Sure, but not depleted.

Plus you have to account for playing at the shrine that the Nazi-lover built. Makes it tougher.

Chances are that UND will be too focused on the fact that they get to play Minnesota again and you'll roll them one of the nights. The other game is a loss. You're welcome for the win!

Hope you do sweep!

Are the H-U-S-K-I-E-S rotating goalies?[/QUOTE]

check the link. You might laugh a bit. I am on a phone so cant type and try to keep my responses short.

Here is my serious response. What have any of the teams, save the Gophers, done that was more impressive than St. Cloud?

Also I watched the Colgate games. At no point would I say we struggled.

Agree with everything here. I don't ask for respect. Just wonder why people want to make themselves look dumb by pretending this isn't a very good team. It's on them. But if you watch the games, it's obvious. This is a very good team.

Thanks, sounds good. Checking airfare costs to Philly in April. Course, maybe I go again with the folks who organized the charter flight (flown by a SCSU alum) to the Frozen Four.

Decisions, decisions.

Re: St. Cloud State at North Dakota - For Those of You Who Can Read & Write

St. Cloud played their freshman backup goalie in the tie against BSU. And until the Huskies got a little lackadaisical with a huge lead in the Saturday game against Colgate, they had outscored the Raiders 8-2 on the weekend (final was 8-5).

Re: St. Cloud State at North Dakota - For Those of You Who Can Read & Write

I'm not saying that sweeping at UND isn't impressive. It is. And I'm impressed. What I'm saying is that the people who (prior to this weekend) didn't see the Huskies as being for real, probably felt that way because they hadn't done much to impress due to their strength of schedule. I think the Huskies have shown that they are a good team by their record now. I wouldn't go so far to say that they are a lock for Philly as Husckey Domi Matrix is implying. I wouldn't suggest that about the Gophers either. All I can say for both teams is so far so good, there's a lot of hockey left to play.

Looking forward to when they play the Gophers.

And what most of us would say to you is that when it comes to your opinion of our team, we don't care.

Re: St. Cloud State at North Dakota - For Those of You Who Can Read & Write

I'm excited for the next home series against Miami. That should tell us a lot more about where we are this season. It's still too early but I am really liking what I am seeing so far. The freshman have looked good and we have a wide array of production from just about everyone. Daly popped one last night. I think our depth is just as strong if not stronger than last year with the added year of experience. No one who watched the Bemidji tie would say we struggled. Walsh stood on his head as we outshot them 46 - 21. I couldn't believe the stops he made in our flurry in the last minute of the second five on five. We also doubled their shots in the first game. Plus they got some fluky tips. The Colgate series seemed like we took our foot off the gas but again I wouldn't say we really struggled. I love the freshmen Papa, Storm and Nevalainen's game so far. I thought Tedesco played well too friday but I also like Rehkamp's speed last night. We have speed, skill, grit and depth on all of the lines.
The goal by the Kosilla, Brodzinski and Benik line was a hockey beauty. The Dowd Murray and Morley line controlled a lot of the play and were picking the puck from the North Dakota players pretty well along the boards Saturday. Bertsch, Oliver and Holka all look a lot more comfortable out there this year. It's early but I don't know how you can not be excited to watch this team. Look at the balance First Time One Time is displaying.
The little that I have watched the Gophers they have looked really good too, but that game is a long ways off-almost 3 months- a lot can happen on the injury side by then and who is hot. The shots by the Gophers (37-21 and 31-25) and SCSU (29-16 and 46-21) over Bemidji were almost identical and we were missing(had to sit out 2 games for that Finnish tournament) Nevalainen who I think has looked really good so far in his four games.
Storm 6-6 and Gravel 6-4 on the backend give us more of a physical presence on the back end then last year. Even Prochno and Prow are taking the body a lot more than they did last year. The problem with predicting this far out is the NCAA is one and done. I'm not sure why anyone cares about polls this early. The key is consistency and getting hot in March and April.
