St. Cloud State at Minnesota-Duluth: Two Whole Weeks of These People? Joy...

Re: St. Cloud State at Minnesota-Duluth: Two Whole Weeks of These People? Joy...

Luckily, the math does not lie. St. Cloud is currently #1 in the nation.

They should be. Only way they won't is if the Huskies lose a bad one tonight and the Gophs pound Sparty, but I don't see that happening.

Re: St. Cloud State at Minnesota-Duluth: Two Whole Weeks of These People? Joy...

Do they always release the polls on Saturday, or only when St. Cloud has a winning record?

I am going to guess that he was referencing RPI as he stated "the math does not lie" and not the silly USCHO poll (matters not). RPI is a nice measuring stick to see how teams are doing so far but that's it. Teams have not played enough common opponents yet to really get a feel for who will be the top teams come Feb/March.

SCSU in my opinion has been fortunate this year so far, last night's win was a Husky team that didn't bother to show up until the third period - they won't win many games that way. Wins like that combined with a bit of a soft schedule so far have me putting them in the "top ten" but where on that list is debatable.

The Union games will be a good test for SCSU as Union has been making noise and for Parise's sake the NCHC could use a few more wins against out of conference opponents.

Re: St. Cloud State at Minnesota-Duluth: Two Whole Weeks of These People? Joy...

This will be a test for UMD. SCSU is playing very good hockey and can sweep this series. I do think that UMD will continue their trend and get a split.

Saturday or tonight's re-match game must be the game you were referring to for a split. We'll find out soon.

Meanwhile St. Cloud holds the NCHC and Minnesota Belts which are up for grabs tonight as well. Sounds like an AWA tilt between Mad Dog Vachon and Nick Bockwinkle.

Take it easy on the SCSU folks at the Dub Linh. Traveling in this weather merits a host with the most.

Talk to the other NCHC teams about not winning non conference games. St. Cloud has taken care of ours.

And what are you talking about "wins like that?" What other games have they played that poorly? There isn't a team so far this year that's head and shoulders above the rest in college hockey. St. Cloud is as good as anyone else.

Seriously, we are 7-0-0 on the road and the only team in D-1 with one loss, and that included a four game stretch against UND and Miami. Rankings aren't important, but SCSU has as good, if not better, resume than anyone else right now.

Huskies Sweep

Haha! You just included beating UND as an argument that your team is good.

I was actually referring to the PWR, which updates pretty much immediately.

And great teams find a way to win even on off-nights. St. Cloud did that last night.

Re: St. Cloud State at Minnesota-Duluth: Two Whole Weeks of These People? Joy...

The good thing is Motzko knows it's how you are playing in March and April that matters most. The team is a long way from reaching their goal as national champs. It's way to early to know if they are good enough to win it all yet. Having 10 wins doesn't hurt the cause though.

Well, you replied to a guy who said the pollsters don't respect you and I can see why. I am happy to hear the computers are still your friend.

lol I think you get to take our National Championship trophy home for the weekend.

Pardon me...the adults are talking.

Don't worry. Only another 5-6 years until Duluth has their rare good season .

Hahahaha...please stop....that's too funny coming from a SCSU fan whose team just got their first DI Frozen Four appearance in SCHOOL HISTORY last year.
So if a team doesn't make the Frozen Four, it wasn't a good team?

Quit making it so painfully obvious you don't know anything about the history of these teams, Jim.

I was just using your standards there, Champ. UMD made it into the tournament 4 times in the past 10 years. The Frozen Four twice and a National Championship once in that same time period. So assuming your definition of a good team is post-season success, I'd say that they've been much more successful more often than SCSU. You've made it obvious you weren't a math major in another thread already this week, so let me lay it out for you. 1 National Championship is greater than 0 National Championships. 4 Frozen Fours is greater than 1 Frozen Four. It's okay, math is hard.

What are my standards? Apparently you know them better than I do. Cite your sources while you are at it.

I'm assuming your standards are FF appearances as the Dogs had a gap from 2004 until 2011 (about 6 years). I don't need to cite my sources unless you're telling me I'm somehow wrong with those statistics. A search of USCHO, Wikipedia or the NCAA website will help you to find the records of post-season play. I'm on my phone so I won't bother, but asking someone to cite sources isn't a valid argument. You're stupid to try and argue that SCSU has had more success than UMD.

Quit assuming things then because you are wrong. My standards are contending for a conference title. Being relevant during the season. By your standards, the year the Gophers lost to Holy Cross, they weren't a good team.

Re: St. Cloud State at Minnesota-Duluth: Two Whole Weeks of These People? Joy...

In pretty sure the difference in records comes from all the time ya'll whooped us in the wcha playoffs :(

Re: St. Cloud State at Minnesota-Duluth: Two Whole Weeks of These People? Joy...

Overall records from 2001-2002 through 2011-2012
Minnesota-Duluth: 206-182-53
St. Cloud State: 215-175-48

Seasons with More Losses Than Wins
Minnesota Duluth: 5
St. Cloud State: 2

NCAA Titles
Minnesota-Duluth: 1
St. Cloud State: 0

If you have a smart remark, at least have some stats to back it up.
