Sporting News Ranks Pre-Season Top 20

Re: Sporting News Ranks Pre-Season Top 20

on the other hand, you think umass amherst is good. shows what you know.

When it comes down to it, UMass is going to finish higher than people are thinking, and Lowell is going to finish lower than what people are thinking. Ranking a team 4th overall who got hot the last 6 weeks of the year and has only 2 or 3 impact players is nuts.

Re: Sporting News Ranks Pre-Season Top 20

Personally, I laughed when I saw this ... but hey, it gives us something to talk about. As much as I have high expectations for Lowell, 4th is much too high. UMass being in this at all is a shocker. UNH is too low. UVM belongs in the top 20. Oh well ... couple of weeks and we can finally start talking games.

If this where D-1 A College Football a preseason poll would matter. Luckily its not that.

Re: Sporting News Ranks Pre-Season Top 20

and how St. Cloud is that high is beyond me
I don't know. We didn't lose much other than Weslosky, the offense is intact for the most part, and Michael Lee is coming in? I wouldn't have put SCSU that high, but maybe that's what they were looking at.

Re: Sporting News Ranks Pre-Season Top 20

Um... yeah. I'm in the group that thinks any team that didn't even MAKE the NCAA tournament doesn't belong in pre-season top-10, much less top-5 rankings. I don't care how close they got to making the tournament, how they almost beat so-and-so... etc...

Pre-seaon ranking should be about this year. yes last year plays into it, but turn over is so high on some teams making the tourney last year doesn't always mean a lot.

Re: Sporting News Ranks Pre-Season Top 20

Well I remember last year SCSU started at #7..didn't take long to fall out of the top 20...

As I said, the guy who came up with these rankings was obviously drunk. SCSU in the Top 10, UML in the Top 5, Minnesota even being ranked.

Re: Sporting News Ranks Pre-Season Top 20

Brett Hextall is still with UND, that alone puts them in the top 5..
