Spartan Hockey - Silver Linings edition

Re: Spartan Hockey - Silver Linings edition

Could it be? Yes!

WE HAVE A WINNING STREAK!!!

Sounds like we stole one last night. Also looks like Yanakeff played liked his old form, stopping 37 while we only put up 14. Unfortunately we didn't gain any on NMU or UM.

Re: Spartan Hockey - Silver Linings edition

We're most likely headed up to Fairbanks after this week. However, there's still many other oppurtunities including scenic Bowling Green, Ohio and Sault Ste. Marie. There's even the possibility for a weekend date in Ann Arbor.

Re: Spartan Hockey - Silver Linings edition

Things are picking up again on the recruiting front. One site has St. Louis U16 as the third best Tier 1 elite team in the US, and defenseman Ty Farmer as one reason why. He has verbally committed for 2016 to MSU. So we have 2 of the first 3 Tier 1 Elite U16's to commit to a D1 program.

Re: Spartan Hockey - Silver Linings edition

Aaaaaaannnnnddd Fairbanks it is. What a flat out awful game in almost every aspect. At least it was competitive effort wise for the last ten minutes.

I was disappointed with how the last five minutes was handled. Maybe I'm over thinking, but with a power play and down 3 with five minutes to go in what is a must-win game and a no lose situation, I would've liked to see Hildebrand get pulled for an extra attacker. What's the worst that can happen? We end up losing 6-2 instead of 5-2 and still end up traveling to Fairbanks next week. Oh well, let's hope one of the goaltenders can put together a six game hot streak.

Re: Spartan Hockey - Silver Linings edition

I had a great weekend at MSU. First time back in about two years.

The win on Saturday will make that 1,500-mile drive back home seem a little more tolerable.

Re: Spartan Hockey - Silver Linings edition

I was there you d*ck... Just because i joined the discussion later doesnt mean i want in the stands when we were bottom feeders.... Enjoy 7th, I hope minnesota destroys you for the rest of your miserable programs existance.

You're a joke. I sat right in the corner where that cross-checking penalty occured. F$ck you an your bias

Excellent. I'm siding with a U-M poster. Anyway ... you're still here looney? There does seem to be a lot of bias and you have it it spades; but if you're looking for sympathy this is the wrong place and we're on the wrong end of the 11-team race to read your rantics.

As my previous post was apparently deleted even though it wasn't offensive, here's another one.
Mine was too, in which I vented about the penalty that led to the heretofore debated 6x4 and goal. Hall must've moderated.

In this highlight video you can clearly see the puck is in the back of the net before the goaltender was ever touched, and when he was hit, it was because a Michigan State player pushed him into the goaltender. It is clearly a good goal:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_HZPeSFhYc&feature=youtu.be&t=3m1s

NCAA rule 83.6: A goal shall be disallowed if: If an attacking player interferes with the the goalkeeper in the crease physically or visually, preventing the goalkeeper from defending the goal.

Puck is not yet in at this point. The WMU player is most definitely in the crease, and appears to be VISUALLY interfering with the goalie. Looks like the zebras got this one right.

I think Sfl4 makes a sound case in this particular debate over the waived off goal.

Re: Spartan Hockey - Silver Linings edition

Make that two

This tells me that the I-94 rivalry is at DEFCON-4.

I doubt it. That program further west on I-94 has had a nice run the last three years, mostly due to Blashill and Murray. Certain ignorant fans seem to forget that, even with their recent success, that they never won a CCHA regular season title and have one playoff title. Furthermore, they have qualified for the NCAA tourney five times (six if they don't manage to screw up this season) and have never made it past the first round. Being snarky typically only matters when you have something to back it with. Stomping feet and suggesting that you rot and die is comical (we're use to it.) Let's see how they do next season in the elitist NCHC.

In other words, it will take alot to get the intensity to D-4. There is only one in-state school that will do that. ;)
