Someone hand me a compass! MI Directional School Battle, Pt 1: NMU @ WMU 10/28-29

Re: Someone hand me a compass! MI Directional School Battle, Pt 1: NMU @ WMU 10/28-29

I know that, you know that, everyone knows that. However, these are two current CCHA teams. In the eyes of the current CCHA, this was a split. That will be what comes in to play first, those statistics, those points, that ranking, before we even start considering PairWise/RPI/other rankings. Also, I couldn't discount our shoot out without discounting Western's. You know what? I like Western--they and tUMD are the NaCHo bound schools I don't want to see crumble and completely fail this year. I had to call a spade a spade.

In the eyes of the current CCHA, NMU got 4 points, the school from Ann Arbor got 2. 3 points each would be considered a split.

Re: Someone hand me a compass! MI Directional School Battle, Pt 1: NMU @ WMU 10/28-29

Fine. It wasn't a split. You guys tell me what to put and I'll put it in there, because clearly I can't put it correctly enough for you.
However, we :LOST: the shootout. So, as per what the CCHA has laid out, we lost the game. Last time I looked, a win and a loss was called a split.

That totally just reminded me of the old CBA where you got a point for winning a quarter and 3 for winning the game.

It's not a loss. It's a tie, both in the NCAA and the CCHA. The shootout winner gets an additional point in the CCHA standings. In the NCAA its Wins-Losses-Ties, in the CCHA Wins-Losses-Ties-Shootout Wins. In the CCHA NMU is 1-0-1-0 and UM was 0-1-1-1 on the weekend.

I was told there would be no math!!!!:p

In all actuality, I like the CCHA scoring system. In the NHL, some games are worth two points, and some worth 3, as in a game with OT or a shootout and the winning team gets 2 and the losing team gets 1. I used the 'bonus point' for the shootout win going all the way back to the mid 90's while working in the ECHL. It was considered a tie game with the SO winner gaining an additional point in the standings. The CCHA system really simplifies that with the Wins-Losses-Ties-Shootout Wins format.

You know whats even easier and makes more sense? Wins-Losses-Ties

While I like the way the CCHA hands out the points and it makes sense going for a win in regulation as opposed playing for the shootout, I don't like it if it isn't NCAA wide. Its all moot in a few years when everything shuffles around anyway.

Best part of the CCHA folding

I'm with him, actually. I can see how it would be entertaining to Joe Smith or Tommy Koskimakiniemiinenaala or any other casual passing <s> Walmart Shopper </s> fan, but I dislike it at this level. I realize the frustration of ties for that type of fan and for rankings purposes, but I really, really dislike a game being resolved by what is essentially a skills contest.
However, opinions are like azzholes--we all have them, and we think everyone else's stinks.

Does Western offer a B2 feed?

http://www.wmubroncos.com/liveEvents/liveEvents.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=4600

It looks like Western offers a feed. The minimum you can purchase is a 1 month package for $10.95. However, that is cheaper than buying 2 individual games with B2.

Can anyone comment on the video stream quality for Western games? Is it one static camera? Do they have a score board displayed? Is it synced with live commentary?

Thanks.

Sorry about that.

Apparently, a "Suck It, Yoopers" chant was started in the student crowd last night at Lawson. How soon they forget, it was a Yooper who helped them out so much last year.

Other than that, I have little to say on the game--the radio feed was so bad I couldn't hear more than half of what Davyd was saying.

No one has ever said that they had a lot of class.

They certainly did their best to make the Ann Arbor fans look classy.

As far as last nights game goes... Last goal was on an open net so it was closer than the score shows. The Cats played better the last two periods... the 1st period not so much. They were wildly out shot by Western as well. However, the shots they had were good. If they can get the puck to the net more and pick up the pace a bit I expect the Cats to come home even on this weekend.

When I used it last year, it was one camera. I don't remember a scoreboard included in the video. One of the games, the feed did not start working until the second period.

o.0

We're seriously having a "class" discussion about students who routinely start "USA" chants during Canadian exhibition games despite having a dozen or so Canadians on the WMU roster?

I didn't think it was *that* rough of a weekend despite the results, because discussions about the "classiness" of a fanbase usually come out when one's team has left nothing worth defending on the ice.
