I bet you'd love it if umtc was winning

No. I've been consistently against these gimmicks ever since they began. Go back and read any post I have ever made on the subject.

Maybe if the Gophers keep trying, they will eventually come back from down 3 to win. Or they could stop digging themselves into a hole, and then deciding to play.

I wouldn't. This wasn't hockey. This was Chuck A Puck.

Actually it was a hockey game while this is Chuck A Puck.

Being unable to skate, I can see why you are unable to differentiate between the two.

That or if UAA ever played in one.

You really are "nobody's fool" aren't you?

Maybe one day someone will adopt you.

That clip summarizes just about every SOG in the game. Flip puck up, hope it bounces your way. This wasn't hockey.

IMO, the ice took away many of the basic skills of a hockey player, not only changing the style of play but the basic skills of the sport itself. THAT'S why tonight's game was horrible.

Hey, you want to play the trap? That's fine. You have to have a certain skill set to do that effectively. You want a high-flying team? Go for it.

There were a few times when you could tell a mistake was made due to bad ice, but I really don't think it was the gigantic mess you're making it out to be. All 5 goals, in my eyes, were goals that would have also been scored in an indoor arena.

No need to lie to yourselves and the rest of us. I wouldn't care if we were playing in boots as long as we got two points out of it.

Re: SOLDIER FIELD 2013 • Wisconsin vs. Minnesota & Miami vs. Notre Dame

Funny seeing all the MN fans complain about outdoor ice conditions and the style of play.:D Anyone who grew up playing countless hours outside will tell you it doesn't get any better than this in terms of fun hockey and players know you always have to adjust to the ice conditions as the game goes on. A different type of game plan and skill set is needed when playing outdoors.

The difference today was the Badgers adjusted better to the conditions, got pucks deep, had some good bounces with the puck and played shut down D despite being outshot. The Gophers did not look sharp in transition against the Badger D, and created too few chances to score inside. Credit Rumpel with a good performance in net. One of the few games this season I felt Wilcox was not in top form. Although it didn't seem like it, official attendance was over 52,000.

Agreed. The complaining coming from some Minnesota fans sounds like serious sour grapes. I thought Minnesota slightly outplayed Wisconsin, but that Wisconsin had the higher quality scoring opportunities. Minnesota put way too many of their chances wide or over the top of the net. Wisconsin capitalized on more of their chances, and the game could have easily been 5-2.

That's because you don't understand MN hockey. READ MY LIPS...DIFFERENT SKILL SET...OK?? Ask any Gopher player after this game and they'll tell you without a doubt this game was a BLAST.

I'm sure they would say something like "we sure would have liked to do some parts of it over again, and we obviously would have wanted to beat Wisconsin at this event, but it was a memorable experience."

It seems like a safe way to say it was a good experience without calling a loss a "blast."

Not talkin' about the loss...:D Keep in mind, one of the Badger goals went off of a Gopher's shin pad and in...nothing anyone can do about that. I'm talkin' about playing on outdoor ice, fella.

Re: SOLDIER FIELD 2013 • Wisconsin vs. Minnesota & Miami vs. Notre Dame

With unbiased eyes, I would say that the Badgers played a very good game. In the first period, they had trouble maintaining possession, but the defense and Rumpel always stayed strong to hold off the Gophers. The second period looked way different, with the Badgers creating chances and actually completing them and converting them into goals. Say what you want about playing outside (and who is the better team overall) — the Badgers narrowly played the better game today. Both teams had streaks of intense pressure throughout the game.

With biased eyes, I'm just super happy about what I just saw!!!

Final thoughts: I was quite pleased with Wisconsin's effort and execution. I love that UW sent some of the band there! Did any of the other schools send theirs? I didn't see the early game, and I don't think I heard band music I didn't recognize. I wish more fans were there for both games (would have made for a better spectacle), though I guess the side with the suites and press box stuff was pretty full for the second game. I decided I like Seth Helgeson the least of all the Gophers.

I know what you mean, but I feel like most athletes facing the media choose their words carefully after a loss. That way, they can avoid fans misinterpreting what they say in the worst way possible.

I bet that Gopher whose shin pad the puck deflected off of would have like to have had that back. Is it a big, bad mistake on his part? No, not really. But I'm sure he wished he had done something different on that play.
