Sochi 2014: From Russia With Love

Re: Sochi 2014: From Russia With Love

I much prefer him and Tara Lipinski to Scott Hamilton and whoever the woman is on prime time. Get rid of them and go with Weir/Lipinski for 2018.
Sandra Bezik. I think it's the Dick Button syndrome -- they've been doing it so long their act has gotten stale.

Re: Sochi 2014: From Russia With Love

I usually change the channel whenever the ice dancing comes on, it is unwatchable ****. But a couple days ago I was busy working on the bathroom (doing some renovations) and watching the TV through the doorway, I was busy with something so I didn't change the channel right away when it switched to ice dancing. Whoever that lady was, that was doing commentary, she was terrible. It looked like some pre-teen girl dancing to Schindler's List music (which is ****ed up in itself) and this lady sounded like she needed some time alone to finish and compose herself before the next dancer. I don't know how people could stand listening to her for more than 30 seconds, unless it is for the comedy of how absurd the commentary is.

Yeah, there were a few questionable choices for music. I enjoyed the Russian who skated to the theme from 'The Godfather' :D Putin was sitting RIGHT THERE!

Point made, but I'd say that it'd be questionable strategy to select the commentators based on the opinions of folks who only watch if it's inconvenient to change the channel.;)

Given the way this rant was worded...I'm guessing he changed the channel before Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir came on...:p

This one?

I haven't been able to catch any of the curling events due to the time their on, but she looked good in Vancouver.

Yes-but that pic looks like the one they took for my passport. You have to google her to find others that capture her special talents!

Heard on the radio this morning that Costas's poop eyes are bad enough now that he's taking his ball and going home.

Pretty obvious early that he got hit with a dose of conjunctivitis. I guess medical care over there(wonder if he has to go through the Russian system) is just not doing their job. For a few days it was limited to his left eye but the last 2 days we noticed the involvement starting on the right side. Usually viral-the treatment is mostly symptomatic-but if this is bacterial it can be a bit tougher to treat. Guessing he might have to come back here, where the medical system gets criticized all the time by some, for proper medical care.;)

We Canadians are such good sports. :)

Once in a while we're reminded that sports isn't all about money, championships and private jets.

On Tuesday at the Laura Cross Country Ski Center, Russian skier Anton Gafarov crashed and broke a ski and tried to continue on, falling three times, before being rescued by Canadian head coach Justin Wadsworth, who ran on to the course with a ski and helped the Russian get back in the race.

Wadsworth is the husband of 2002 Salt Lake City cross country ski gold medalist Beckie Scott. Wadsworth's gesture was reminiscent of the 2006 Turin Olympics, when Norwegian coach Bjornar Hakensmoen gave Canadian cross country skier Sara Renner a pole during the team sprint event, resulting in Canadians sending hundreds of letters to the Norwegian Embassy.

Re: Sochi 2014: From Russia With Love

At the Winter Olympics some of the snowborading and skiing events look as though they are being held in slush. Meanwhile, Atlanta is getting ready for a snow and ice storm. What's wrong with this picture?

Re: Sochi 2014: From Russia With Love

Wow that halfpipe is garbage. Completely flat on the bottom, bumps and rises in some places. And obviously, slush everywhere. White still can't complain, because everyone is boarding the same junk course.
