I tend to ignore XYZ. The guy is a loose cannon. I have met him in person, however, and he's the sort of guy who wears sunglasses at night. Though, as he told me, the sun never sets on cool. As it relates to XYZ on that one...I can't exactly disagree. :cool:

No thanks, both give me the green apple quick step! My personality improves with Molson, Labatts or Kokanee though.

Seriously, you have been commenting on the SNC rumors and I will say this. SNC has been very good in the past with a team of all upper classmen or dominated by Freshman. If you recall, they went to the Final 4 numerous times with a young team and won the NCAA championship with the current team as mostly Freshman. Based upon their history, I would never count out an SNC team coached by Cogs regardless of youth. Maybe, just maybe a good house cleaning is exactly what they need. They certainly were not very good last year following a championship year. Personally, I am looking forward to a new and exciting season.:)

Since it sounds like the numbers might not be as bad as was rumored, I also am looking forward to the new season. I never liked the vibe last year. I'm hoping the Juniors and Seniors are highly motivated when they compare how they felt at the end of the last two seasons.

I hadn't seen anyone say anything about it here, so I thought I'd say something. I was talking to a couple of guys who played and graduated about 8 or 10 years ago this weekend and they said Rob Smillie is being inducted into the SNC athletic Hall of Fame in 2 weeks. Thought it was worth mentioning. I loved watching him play. He could do it all.

Very cool, thanks for the info. Smillie was/is a great player and definitely one of the favorites from year's past.

Coach Mazzoleni is quite the pick up for SNC! I remember him at Point, but look at the rest of that resume...

I just got more optimistic about the upcoming season.

I guess it shouldn't be a surprise. Mazzoleni got paid by the Gamblers for last season ($100,000+), Tim played for him at UWSP, etc.

I think two of the issues Mazz had with the Gamblers - the very different player acquisition methodology and the age of the players (15-to-20 instead of 18-24) - are obviously non-factors at this level.

Despite the lack of success in the USHL, I doubt Mazz has forgotten everything that made him successful before that. And, it's still Tim's program, not his - and that's a difference, too.

Let's hope it works out!

But Green Bay finished the 08-09 USHL season with the best overall record and lost to eventual playoff champion Indy in the semis?

Indeed, who was relieved of his duties with Green Bay in February 2008. Certainly Mark Mazzoleni would be an asset to nearly any DIII team, he did lead the Green Bay Gamblers' to a league-worst 13-41-6 record in 2007-08. Despite, 'being where he wanted to be', having received a multi-year deal in the range of $100,000 annually. His last season at Harvard, he took the preseason favorite in the ECAC, to a sixth place finish in the league, where they reached the NCAA Tournament on the strength of winning the ECAC Tournament title.

That said, he is still a good catch for SNC :cool:

Clearly a talented coach, taking his NCAA teams to or over .500 in 7 out of 10 tries, but nevertheless, only 2 seasons above .600, I don't find him likely to be impressive beyond DIII hockey. But he is NOT someone to be sneezed at.

For Miami (at the time) and Harvard that's pretty darn good.
