Or the business major from Mexico....the country, not NY.Or the biology major from Canada who doesn't play hockey. Financial aid is determined mostly through an evaluation of the FAFSA

I think westscout is right on, to suggest that hockey players are paying close to $40,000 to attend St. Norbert, Norwich etc is ridiculous.
No one is suggesting that Coghlin, McShane, Beaney, Emery, Gosek etc. are not good coaches, the real facts and the point of the discussion is that financial aid packages vary from school to school. Their schools have very aggressive financial aid packages that allow them to continue to recruit excellent players. It is that simple. Scholarship schools at D1 have a max of 18 awards, the Ivies police themselves and the non scholarship schools like RIT have outstanding aid packages. It is not as clear cut in D3, there are no limits on the amount of aid a school can award.

... FA packages have only got bigger as the years have gone on as tuition has increased. Did Plattsburgh have sucess with FA back in the 90's, absolutley, but it was no where near what some teams are giving these days. Kids are now getting free housing, meal plans and still tuition break. But like I said, as long as they do it for all, and the number of non-athletes vs. athletes, who accept the package is proportional, , there is nothing the NCAA can do, ...
Too bad Stroh was unable to go in the ntl champ game (due to injury).
Yes, he took Stoh's spot.Is that why Donohue played in the title game? I thought Donohue played pretty well this season in limited action, and I think he could be one of those two way forwards we're gonna need to replace.
I attended SNC 1988-1992. I was a poor hockey player but a pretty good high school student. My financial aid package made SNC cost about as much as I would have paid for in-state tuition at a UW school. That's all I'll say in this thread regarding finances.
For those who want to make ridiculous unfounded innuendos about financial issues they obviously don't have the slightest clue about feel free to start your own thread so you aren't clogging this thread up where we enjoy talking hockey.
As long as there are no unexpected losses, here is about what I expect to come in.
*Likely 2 goalies, with for sure 1 guy who they think can push Martin. With Martin being young I'm sure they would take a transfer.
*4 D-men to pair with the 4 returning. Getting Favreau back will seem like a new recruit because his was a completely wasted year because of injury.
*Maybe about 5 or 6 forwards. They'll need some 2 way guys because guys like Pulak, Langford, Exton, and Longley were pretty good in all 3 zones. I already told coach I wanted one of them to be big so he could put another jumbo line out there. He got a kick out of it and agreed it was a lot of fun watching those guys work.
I'll make another post in what I'm expecting from some of the returning guys.
Yes, I believe two surgeries were involved.Favreau I believe was issue with his wrist, not sure if surgery was involved or what, someone else perhaps knows more.......but certainly missed him on the ice across from Walz this year.........
Normally don't get much info on new recruits until shortly before school starts.would coughlin tell us who the recruits are?

Loose lips sink ships! The process of staying quiet and lying in the weeds while recruiting seems to be working well!
