SNC 2012-13 Regular Season Thread

Re: SNC 2012-13 Regular Season Thread

Ref48 you were right on there...all the way around...Jake will be back in net tomorrow night. Good call!
Good luck this weekend boys!

Re: SNC 2012-13 Regular Season Thread

One of the more interesting stats of this early season for SNC, has been their power play efficiency: 15 goals in 39 attempts/ 38.5%.
11 different players have already scored at least one PP goal this season in just seven games. This compares to 14 different scorers last season.
Three different PP lines were utlized last weekend versus River Falls.
No doubt, this is one of the deepest squads that I have seen from SNC in recent years....

Pete:

I could not agree more with your comments. I believe that this team is as deep as I have seen over the years with the traditionally strong goaltending and defensive play that is smothering to opponents. The difference this year IMO is the talent up front and the offensive play. SNC has role players who are snipers and set up guys who are not afraid of the corners. This being said, anything can happen so they have to come to the each game with their lunch buckets to get wins. I am sure that Cogs will make sure that they do not lose sight of the prize.

Re: SNC 2012-13 Regular Season Thread

I haven't seen the teams of the past few years but just in comparison to this seasons team I agree with you guys. Last season had the less then stellar start but when things did come together they were very good. This season is definitely deeper and good to see the newcomers having impact quickly. So far this year's team has kept their composure better when the chippy and cheap stuff has taken place. They are going to need that mentality all the way through. I don't mean to back down, just keep your head about how you respond. Take care of it as needed but don't put themselves into a bad situation with dumb penalties like last season. If they continue to play smart, fast and physical things will go well. I wish I was going to be there this weekend but the north woods calls this weekend!
Should be good games this weekend! Good test for both!

Re: SNC 2012-13 Regular Season Thread

Not only the power play but I do not think the penalty kill has been scored upon this year also

See my post. They can't unless they want to spend 8 years waiting and get an invite from a D-I multisport conference.

SNC explored the possibility of moving to D1 in the late '90s, but decided against it.

It's still early, but from reading this thread do you think they're ready to skate with the likes of St. A's?

SNC would double digit St. A's.

one game at a time thats all i ask for...they just need to re-focus and all will be good.. a little bump in the road is all. Great group of boys lots of talent they know what they need to do now.

Brandon Longley works at same place my hubby does; he was at fri game and told him today eau Claire had nine d1 transfers, not sure how many of them were playing this weekend. Either way that was not the snc team we know they can be. Everyone needs that wakeup call on occasion.

A bit of an exaggeration, but yeah, Eau Claire has a few transfers on their roster.

Eau Claire has been poised for a breakthrough season for a few years now. Nobody should really be surprised - Tim Coghlin has been hinting at it for a couple of years at least.

In every successful SNC season (ok maybe not '07-'08) there has been obstacles for the team to overcome. So far this season it looks like that may be Eau Claire.
