SNC 2010-11 Regular Season Thread

Re: SNC 2010-11 Regular Season Thread

SNC gets the win, in large part to two extra, super soft goals in opening minutes allowed by EC goalie.

EC was good defensively but couldn't convert on offensive chances. O'Brien played well enough.

Congrats to Coach on tying Peters!

I guess you bank the points even when you feel like you may not have done all you could to earn them. I still have no idea how SNC turned one good period on the weekend into 4 points.

Re: SNC 2010-11 Regular Season Thread

It was nice to see more people Sat nite than I think anyone would have expected; press gazette reported 437 in attendance.

I believe that number is tickets sold. Season ticket holders are included in that number. There were more people than I expected too though. A very quiet night at the CCC. I hope that a situation like that doesn't happen again.

Re: SNC 2010-11 Regular Season Thread

It had to have been tickets sold. I caught some of it online and it looked like a Throwback Promotion to about 1991 in the old arena in DePere. I hated missing. Pete looked lonely in his normal perch.

It sure was lonely without most of the regulars on hand.
Did catch William's interception return for TD to end the first half (in the CCC lobby between periods)....plus most of the last 1 1/2 qtrs at home.

Re: SNC 2010-11 Regular Season Thread

SNC never had that many fans in the stands for a game back in '91...
I was kidding. I was there at that time, so I know what the crowds looked like. They looked about like the one from Saturday as far as actual attendance. It makes me appreciate it isn't anywhere near the norm. It's nice to be able to think we had a small crowd when it is in the 1,000-1,100 range.

Re: SNC 2010-11 Regular Season Thread

I'm very happy they somehow got 2 points out of tonight. I hope they have quite a bit more for Eau Claire on Saturday.

Re: SNC 2010-11 Regular Season Thread

Wow, SNC may have stole one tonight. For the third time this season UWSP plays solid against the Green Knights. Not a very good game played by the Knight tonight. Sloppy passing, bad puck handling and once again some bad play by the blueliners. Thank God it is the end of January and not the end of February. If this keeps up they could be looking at a pool c bid. The D is stellar and B.J. has been playing great, but with alot of close games like this they are leaving the door open for one bad bounce to cost them a game.
Two things that are bugging me are the amount of penalties the Knights have been taking and the fact that they are being outshot more frequently this year. Coach Cogs teams have always played with control of the body and mind. Some bad penalties tonight and this year. One time it may cost them. As far as being outshot, I know its not the amount of times you shot but the amount of goals you score. With that being said, more shots need to get on net period. There have been too many wasted opportunites by trying to be fancy with the puck. Now if that is by design from Coach then color me red.
Should be an interesting one in Eau Claire on Saturday. Two tight games at the Stone a couple of weeks ago. Hope they come out on fire.
I'm not sure what I'm more excited for though; the game, or ribs at Mikes Smokehouse.

Re: SNC 2010-11 Regular Season Thread

OK, big weekend coming up against Soup and CSS. SNC's chance to claim the NCHA regular season crown after a less than stellar win against UWSP and a tie at Eau Claire. My opinion is that SNC is just doing enough to win and that they seem to be lacking focus or any sense of urgency lately. It is time to start ramping up the emotion to make the next step to winning the NCHA, the Peter's Cup, and then the NCAA's. Comments?

Agreed...just ecking out the one goal win over Point and letting one get away @ Eau Claire.
Hopefully this team gets rolling and clinches the NCHA title this weekend.
I am convinced that we have not yet played our best hockey of the season.
Probably the game vs. Lawrence has been the most complete 60 minute effort to this point.
To get deep into the NCAA playoffs, we need more consistent effort from the entire team.

It seems they are trying not to lose games instead of winning them. Without a true scorer on the roster, the focus is on defense (which isnt a bad thing), but without being aggressive on the attack you're leaving little wiggle room when its always close games

I dont want it to seem like I'm complaining though, they are 17-3-1. Maybe just expecting too much :)
