SLU v. UNO - Denver Cup the early tilt

Re: SLU v. UNO - Denver Cup the early tilt

So if we can win the shootout and we BC hands it to Denver, we would win the trophy? Anyone know gwodz' rules?

Re: SLU v. UNO - Denver Cup the early tilt

Great weekend by SLU.

No doubt. I was hoping for a split this weekend, but honestly expecting 0 or 1 point. 3 points is a great result, and it sounds like they had 1 bad period this weekend (1st today), but played well otherwise. Have to wonder if Tisi has put himself in the hot seat as the hot hand, or if Joe will revert to Alex for league games.

Do I understand this correctly.....the only way Denver does not win the tournament is if they are blown out by BC - due to the large goal differential they built up last night?

Correct. SLU is a +3 goal differential. The only way they can win is if BC beats DU 4-0 or more, based on the goals allowed criteria for 4-0, goal differential for 5-0+.

1. The Denver Cup uses a showcase format where games are pre-determined prior to the start of the tournament. Awards will be presented immediately following the 7:07 pm game on Saturday 1/2. Each team will be recognized for their participation and an all tournament team and MVP will be awarded. The following formula will be used to determine the Denver Cup champion.

1. Win – loss – tie record (not taking shootouts into account)

If tied, the following tie-breakers, in order will be used:

o Win – loss record including result from shootout

o Head to head results

o Goal differential (GS-GA=GD)

o Fewest goals allowed

o Shootout differential (GS-GA=GD)

o If still tied – co-champions will be declared

Re: SLU v. UNO - Denver Cup the early tilt

I swear that Bollig sometimes gets penalized because of his size.

It is more that he is so strong. A little tug for him is enough to take a guy down. He is a strong kid.

Surprised McKenzie missed on the shootout. He is money at those...Princeton in Albany last year and BU at the Dartmouth tourney...I think he is 2-3 as a Saint. Shootout is where you miss Devo. I am kind of surprised he didn't go with some different guys in the shootout....maybe someone like Pitsy or Army that scored a bunch in Prep / Juniors. UNO has a real advantage over us in the shootout because they do that every tie in the CCHA and we don't, plus I am sure they practice it a bunch more.

Anyway, great weekend for SLU. Go BC...Tonight only!!;) :D

I don't think the analysis is right by the way. If BC wins tonight, we win because all the other teams will be 1-1 at best and we will be 1-0-1. What am I missing?

Unless I have been hit with the retard stick, number 1 means we win if BC beats DU tonight. We will be 1-0-1, DU and BC 1-1 and Omaha 0-1-1.

Go BC this one time only!!:)

Yes, if those are the rules then if BC wins then SLU wins it all.....but I am confused because on the Fox RM network they said that Denver can still win the cup if they lose this game by 4 goals or less. Maybe Gwoz had to clarify the rules....
