Dan - love and appreciate the coverage, keep up the good work!

Re: SLU - Summer of 2010

Did anyone check out the ECAC preview on the D1 home page? Once again our esteemed writer in the most superficial of reviews picks us to finish dead last in the conference.

While certainly we have suffered some losses, key and early departures and one highly touted recruit who never arrived........I find it insulting to read such drivel and such a superficial review of our Saints. It's about as impersonal a seasons preview as I have ever read with nary a mention of any incoming players name. I realize these writers aren't highly compensated but for crying out loud if you have all summer to write a preview of a team you think you could do a little research into who the incoming players are...........it's almost as if he did the whole review without talking to a coach or getting a glimpse into what might actually be going on.

I know one thing.........I hope Joe Marsh takes that prediction, takes it to some place and has it blown up to a nice big size....and posts it on the locker room wall..........12th place!!!!!! Come on. We may have lost a lot but I think we have a very good incoming class that will surprise a lot of people.

I've come to expect it. Based on what I saw Saturday night, Mike, we shouldn't be finishing 12th. I'm excited to see how they look after some D-1 competition when I get up to Placid on the 30th.

Perhaps Joe was in on this with Brian? Nothing like an extra can of motivation to kick the season off!

Re: SLU - Summer of 2010

Is Joe Spadaccini related to the Ron Spadaccini who played goal for Colgate in the mid 70's? Seems like too much of a coincidence... ;)

I am not sure they are actually paid anything....which leads to the conclusion that you get what you pay for!!

I can't read anything by him and this has been since he started a few years ago. Was it last season when he admitted he had never been to Canton?

The average fan is as knowledgeable and some are much more knowledgeable than he is.

Well, it just so happens his dad's name is Ron Spadaccini...so one can assume until it is confirmed by Mrs. Spadaccini!:p

Coach Ron (as the local's know him) is Joe's dad and did play goal for the 'Gate. Coach Ron is still known to play a mean net when he straps on the pads.

Re: SLU - Summer of 2010

I saw Bags got placed on "waivers" by Minnesota today. I really thought he had a chance to make the NHL team the way he was playing and by what I had heard and read about his play. I don't know if the waivers is a release or just a formality contractually to be able to send him down. I know he signed a one year contract with the Wild so I'm not exactly clear what placing him on waivers will do. I'll be curious to see if anyone else claims him as I would think he would be a bargain.....or, if this just means he didn't make the team and they have to do this to send him to the AHL?????

Anyone know???? Where's Bob M when we need him???? I miss him already!!!!

Regardless, Drew is at the upper echelon of players that are in and out of the league IMO. I truely believe we will see him in the NHL at some point...

BTW Got 6, could not agree more about your analogy of Red Cloud. While he is somewhat informed (particularly RPI stuff), he is also off base too often to really get excited about his opinion.

Really excited to watch some college hockey. This is a great time of the year!!! College football, college hockey, pro football and baseball playoffs. Pass me a Blue please!!!

Crap, that is a surprise and a disappointment. I am only guessing here but my guess is the CBA requires the Wild to put him on Waivers to see if another team claims him to play in the NHL. If no one claims him, he can/will be sent down. But, I thought he signed a 2-way contract anyway so I don't know why they put him on wiavers.

He is a better player and a tougher kid than many in the show. I hope he gets claimed by someone that needs D. Maybe Atlanta? I saw they moved Byfuglien back to D today. It would be great to see him playing with Bogo's brother and Pevs again.

USCHO writers are paid. D-I reporters make a lot more than D-III reporters.

The lack of coverage that USCHO gives D-III make me very angry.

No way you're finishing in 12th. You'd have to beat(?) out Clarkson and Brown.

Just guessing, BTW, but I think the reason Bags would have to clear waivers is because of the type of Free Agent he was when he signed with Minnesota they are forced by the CBA to put him on the Waiver wire before sending him down to Houston. Still have not seen him being waived on either ESPN or TSN, but they had to get the roster numbers down before todays game. Maybe he'll be back up soon.

I'll see anyone making the trip tomorrow. Can't wait to see the soon to be 12th place Saints play!

Just saw this mentioning Petizian:

As for me, everytime I think about what we lost I see a silver lining with what we got and still have. I actually think what Cornell and Union lost was worse than us. Colgate too. But the last person I would turn too for insight into SLU hockey is Sullivan. And I do mean the very last.

Well, here we go. Another exciting season of SLU Hockey. This weekend should be a good test to see what we are bringing to the ice this season. Go Saints Go

Re: SLU - Summer of 2010

Best of luck to the Saints this season! Hope to see some of you in Hamden in early December.

Thanks Mark, same to Q.

Sounds like Minnesota State is sorta in the same situation we're in this year, lots of question marks and new faces that will be leaned upon. Hopefully we can atleast split out there and get a good start to the season.

Re: SLU - Summer of 2010

Well, here in chilly Mankato...the temp. feels more like Phoenix. It is about 90 out.

There are 5-6 Freshmen in the lineup tonight. D is Hughes-Child, M. Raley - Dewey, P. Raley - Baker

Forwards: Bogo with Flanny wings, Drewiske - Carden - Mobley, Wick - Essery - Carey, Pitsy - Army - Keller and our most experienced guy in the pipes.

Hoping for a good weekend of hockey. These nordic women though....wow....I might forget to watch the game.
