Shillelagh Tourney (Notre Dame, UND, Niagara, Colgate)

Re: Shillelagh Tourney (Notre Dame, UND, Niagara, Colgate)

Well I must be behind. I counted Chay and Kristo. Who am I leaving out?

I guess one of UND's other senior captains, Zajac, being out 4-6 weeks due to hernia surgery doesn't count? :p

Oh, yeah I guess I remember hearing about that, but I have no idea what happened.

I'm cheering for both UND teams in this tourney :)

Re: Shillelagh Tourney (Notre Dame, UND, Niagara, Colgate)

People who say Colgate has no shot at ND need to look a little closer at ND. Losses to Huntsville, PC, and Bowling Green (albeit in the monstrosity that is the CCHA shootout -- but we did blow a 2-0 lead in that one) mean there isn't any team that doesn't have a decent shot at beating the Irish. Notre Dame will be missing a few as well. Kyle Palmieri is out for the IIHF World Jrs, and Sean Lorenz should be out as well, recovering from injury. Other injured regulars who have missed recent games may be back, but I won't say for sure yet. Notre Dame has not yet made a habit this year of competing for 3 full periods. That's a recipe for losing to just about anyone. Their record so far is the proof.

Racking up points against the weak sisters of the poor proves nothing other than they are racking up points against ****ty teams.

You may want to start reading INCH and CHN, whom both feel that ECAC will have 3 teams in the NCAA's. How many teams came from the WCHA in
2009 ??

Excellent point. Continue to be proud when the EZAC gets three teams in the NCAA's and I'll continue to be utterly embarrassed when the WCHA only gets three teams in the NCAA's. This just proves what a joke the EZAC is that their best season can only hope to equal a real conference's worst season.

You're kidding right? INCH has ZERO credibility in the college hockey world...
If the NCAA tourney started today there would be one or two EZAC teams in the NCAA tourney. The EZAC is a weak league stuffed with mediocre teams, inflating a lines stats by playing the weak sisters of the poor doesn't mean they are good, if they were in the WCHA or CCHA or H.E. they wouldn't have as many points...

Yeah good point the Clarkson's one seed a few years back that was bounced in their first game was really impressive... Yale was overly impressive last season as well. Yawn, Boring!

Re: Shillelagh Tourney (Notre Dame, UND, Niagara, Colgate)

I was impressed with Princeton at Regionals last year. They played well...until they choked in the last minute.

I hate that dancing dooshbag in the band. What purpose did he serve?

Are you kidding? That guy was hilariously stupid. :)
No purpose though, just to make others laugh at his antics.
I think he was being serious though.

Re: Shillelagh Tourney (Notre Dame, UND, Niagara, Colgate)

Colgate has a record of 7-6-4 (ECACHLMAO record of 5-3-1; Non-Conference is 2-3-3)

A very indepth over view of the Tourney. You just forgot 1 very important little tid-bit of info.
Colgate has one of, or possibly the best line in the country, with a total of 60 points between them. The senior was a finalist for the Hobey, and 1st team All American last year, and the sophomore is at the top of the league in a number of categories. The junior is at the top of the conference in a number of offensive categories.

You were probably busy gift wrapping your wins when you were quoting (ECACHLLMAO)

Our strength of schedule is very, very good. It's challenging for an ECACHLMAO team to get a good SOS without playing a LOT of Non-conference games... but hey... maybe they could fill their schedule with teams like Michigan (assuming Michigan isn't pulling a suck like they are this year), BC, BU, UML, Vermont, UW, DU, CC, UMN (sometimes), UND.... Or not.

Thanks for the injury update concerning ND. Can't put 60 minutes together on a regular basis? Funny... UND has had the same trouble since Genoway's gotten injured.

How proud do you have to be when your beloved 3 teams to make the NCAAs don't get past the first round or two? Cornell is the only team that has actually done anything in the last 10 years from your conference...and I hope not while Schaeffer (IIRC) is the coach... MAN that guy is a whiner.

Last time I checked, it's not HOW MANY teams make the NCAAs...its which teams have WON it all. The WCHA has the lead...considerably... in that category. How many does the ECACHLMAO have? I know RPI has at least one. Cornell has one or two. I'd look it up if I gave a darn.

You really think Sioux fans don't read INCH and CHN? You're funny.

AND... what does the WCHA having 3 teams in the NCAAs LAST YEAR have to do with INCH thinking the ECAC will have 3 teams in this year?! Saying that, WCHA will have more than 3 teams in this year...

Plenty of talking here, not much being said....

I just hope Colgate doesn't get Niagara in Game 2. Twice in a season is plenty

I agree. doghok has added nothing of value to this thread.

Re: Shillelagh Tourney (Notre Dame, UND, Niagara, Colgate)

Dirty...Just to be novel...How about for once you write about the relevant topic here. Let's see your hockey knowledge(or not) even if it's about your own team. How is your team doing anyhow, stats, injuries, anyone on the Junior team ,etc, goaltending good, bad ???

Re: Shillelagh Tourney (Notre Dame, UND, Niagara, Colgate)

Scoring seems to be rather balanced throughout the team and the Sioux really don't have a dominant line or really a dominant player right now. Freshman Danny Kristo has really turned it on in the last month and is showing signs that he could become a dominant player, but he is up in Canuckland being booed by inbred Canucks.

UND's best player and captain, Chay Genoway, is out indefinitely because of a concussion he received against SCSU. The loss of Chay has really hurt the Sioux as evidenced by their record since the injury occurred. While Corey Finehage has filled in for Chay, he's no Chay. One positive that has come out of the injury, at least to me, is the defensive combination of Ben Blood and Andrew MacWilliam. They knock the snot out of everything and everybody.

Assistant Captain Darcy Zajac is out for a month because of hernia surgery. Assistant Captain Chris VandeVelde should be back for the tournament after suffering a "lower body injury" against Wisconsin. Brad Eidsness has been serviceable goalie. He hasn't been great, but hasn't been terrible either.

Due to UND being a rather balanced team, I think they should be able to wear down Niagara, especially if they are able jump out to an early lead. Brett Hextall will draw at least one penalty this weekend because of his ability to so annoying. All opposing fans will complain about what a jerkoff he is and will also call Ben Blood a goon.

That's not much fun, Niagara blows.
