Well, I start out by having a certain amount of skepticism about the actions of a former KGB colonel with a history of having his political opponents assassinated.

the fact that she had to be told to recruit Minnesotans is just another reason she is unfit to coach (assuming it is true)
if it isn't true, just another Miller lie

would a college football coach in Texas or Florida have to be told to recruit in state players?

on the subject of players leaving, she has gone thru many coaches as well, and its not like it is because she is such a great mentor they have moved on to take positions at other colleges

if losing to BSU isn't the final nail in the coffin that validates UMD's decision to fire her, apparently you cannot let go any employee
anybody remember her blow up when UMD lost to OSU a couple years ago in the playoffs?
that was the turning point for me

Now the big question is, how many of players with eligibility remaining might transfer? And also how many of their recruits will decommit?

why do you think any of them would?
or am I missing something here, Miller said the dismissed players weren't Bulldogs, what exactly is a bulldog?
( back in the day when the media actually employed reporters, they would have asked that question)

you'd think they went there partly because of the school, and once there, have bonded with other players
not to mention a scholarship to play hockey
I believe two of the recruits said that despite the non extension, their plans hadn't changed

It very well could be that they lose nobody, with all current players with eligibility remaining returning and all committed recruits staying the course. But it's not unusual to have some player movement following a coaching change, for the younger ones in particular. And in this situation - where there was no reason to expect such a change would occur - the impact could end up being greater. We'll see.

Athletes have a stronger bond to their team mates and school than to their coach. If not, something is drastically wrong.

I would rewrite this... Athletes should have a stronger bond to their team mates and school than to their coach. If not, they're not there for the right reasons.

Why would anyone want her, since if they want to not renew her contract, she will just cry Title IX and Equal Pay Act. A nightmare no smart school would want to deal with.

ask Blackbird, I'm sure she knows

I could see another school contacting her to urge her to drop any lawsuit, since some of the possible outcomes could be devastating to women's college hockey

on another note, her coaching career may not be over
I could see her coaching a women's pro team
or even a minor league pro men's team, one that needs the publicity

I have been waiting for the National Post to publish something about this,
they often have a humorous/cutting slant on things
I’ve missed it? a search turns up nothing
or it just isn't news (or maybe just too embarrassing for Canada, wait, no that can't be it, NP LOVES stories like this)

Has she not recruited some Minnesota players in the past? On the present roster there's Morin and Stauber (plus Klaas and Astrup although I do not know anything about the status of these two). Off the top of my head, correct me if I'm wrong which I trust that you will enthusiastically do, Dodge, Guzzo and Hawkins and/or Matilla (can't remember for sure) come to mind.

Is there a hard and fast minimum quota? Has there ever been?

But as I've mentioned before...sure doesn't seem like the Clarkson administration or fans are doing any bellyaching.

Choker, (so as not to offend anyone's sensibilities, as if that's ever been a concern of yours), no, she sure doesn't.

But on another note, I've got a great suggestion. Why don't you apply to fill Miller's vacancy? With your self professed knowledge of the game (and it may very well be warranted) that might be something even I might support although I would retain the right to reserve final judgment. And with some of the negative PR that UMD is now garnering they might just see it as being in their best interest to hire another female coach thereby maintaining at least that much continuity. Could be a win/win.

Give it some thought.

I don't believe many words that come out of Shannon's mouth. The university put up with her for awhile because she WAS winning. now she isnt. part of the problem for coaches that raise expectations at their school is that their school now expects success forevermore. Many, many coaches have been let go even though they were once successful. Its part of the gig. Pulling the gay card is typical Shannon. Typical as in she set a behavioral precedent in the past that so many have taken notice of. Maybe thats why noone besides UMD fans are defending her
