And to continue your sentence......a National Championship contender instead of sitting on the bench the next 2 or 3 years on a DI team that probably won't even make it out of the first round of their conference tournament.....maybe friends, a nice rink to play in, oh yea and $$$$$$$:rolleyes:

ow man give it a rest would ya

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

.....a large alumni fund, and generous FA packages...... Cha-Ching...just for you Ozz just for you....anyone going to Hobart Saturday??

Remy we get your point. Yes Oswego's aid is better. For how many years was Plattsburgh's the best in the SUNYAC and either close or best in the country?

Would you still have the same gripe if Oswego wasn't 4-0 against Plattsburgh in the last four games?

Plattsburgh is still getting darn good players and still has a darn good team. Even with the aid Plattsburgh had, they still only won two national championships so that proves that aid isn't everything.

Is it a factor? most certainly. However, coaching is the biggest key. If you did a poll to every coach in the country, I bet Bob Emery is in the top five in every single coach's poll and most probably top three. The man is a proven winner and more often than not, Plattsburgh's players improve more than many other programs over the course of their four years.

If you can put up with his coaching style and being occasionally thrown under the bus in the papers, you won't find many places if any that are better than Plattsburgh.

(Puke. I can't believe I just typed that.)

Ouch, this recent or have something to do with that stinger he felt against Morrisville? Christ, the kid can't catch a break (excuse the pun). That means a possible 6 games against non-conference foes he'll miss and be back, hopefully, against Buff State 1/21.

omg. talk about trial by fire for this Jones kid huh? jesus christ. well...did anyone tell you exactly what happened??? I'm VERY curious to know!

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

For the sake of the competition, I hope Beckwith gets better. I want to see Plattsburgh beat the Lakers this year, but I want them to beat the Lakers at their best. I hope he recovers quickly.

That said, I think it's safe to say now that Beckwith is cursed. ;)

Hold on a second people.

Before we go prattling on about Beckwith being injured. Let's wait for some reliable information or a source

dashoftexas has made 12 posts and everyone jumps on top of what he says without any source of any kind other than "I heard from someone reliable".

Sorry folks. Until I see a newspaper, WTOP, WNYO, or someone else pick-up the story, I'm not believing it.

dashoftexas could very well be an alias just trying to stir the pot.

I know. But, as a Plattsburgh fan, a part of me does hope that this is true. :)

Nice to see you've conceded the fact that Plattsburgh can't beat Oswego anymore :)

but to hope for an injury?...come on Nate...you're better than that. You want to beat your arch-rival at full strength, fair and square.

Just trying to share what I heard to a group of interested DIII and Oswego fans. Just a fan who posts when I have something to contribute. You will see, it's mostly goalie stuff. Injured during practice, perhaps the stinger earlier, set the stage for this more serious injury. Jeez, this is not the NFL where injuries have to be listed and published. I guess no one at Oswego follows the team closely enough in between weekends to have picked this up.

When was this practice? If it was yesterday, WTOP was at it filming a promo video and I'm sure they would have caught wind of it had it happened yesterday. I doubt the Lakers practiced at 6am this morning.

Sorry that I dont believe you. But, having worked in the newspaper/journalism field, we can't just write stories and publish breaking news such as this without a real source.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

I agree, the newspapers would be the best medium for a reliable story, but I'm gonna go ahead and contact some people I know on the team to see if theres any validity to this story. HOPEFULLY its false..but I don't have trouble believing it...he IS after all cursed...

But, if this is the case, I'm gonna go ahead and be optimistic, and say that Jones is chomping at the bit to have a chance to play, this is what he's been waiting for. I want to say that he can handle the pressure... but you never know for sure. but **** i hope Beckwith isn't injured.
