Its the Oswego way

No it isn't the Oswego way but the ignorant college's president. Can't wait for her to go. Wish she was more like Virginia Radley, the pres when I was there. Neither seen or heard.

I will be glad to enlighten you and discuss your pov offline.

My past dealings with Presidents Purdue and Radley and my current work with President Stanley force me to choose my words carefully - IF there was an ignorant President in Culkin Hall, he left town long ago...:D

Althetic Director actually...thats where I would start...consider this -> it APPEARS as though the only sport reconizable in Oswego seems to be MENS Ice Hockey...emphasis on the MENS...its kind of sad that the women do not get as much reconition from the school...the student support I will pass on.

The Platts game is still very limited is because of the student tickets, which have yet to go on sale (I believe thats why). I had heard that they were at capacity with seated tickets and SROs for general admission.

The Lady's game was online with full WTOP coverage last week....

Oh, I know that...but while a student at Oswego almost nothing was communicated except MENS hockey...and even then, most of the time it was only mentioning the whiteout game-or then bagel game (I was there during the "transition" of that). It got bett before I graduated...thanks in most part to the STUDENTS who participated in getting information out to others. It might be better now...certainly stepping in the right direction with (so far) each home game on the air for both WTOP and WNYO.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

Every home game will be on WTOP this year as long as enough students commit to coming back during break to crew the games..coverage might end up a bit skinny, ie less cameras or talent, but the goal is full staff during break....

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

I caught snippets of the post game interview with Gosek commenting on playing Buff State - impromptu or not, this was indeed the ideal game to start the SUNYACs on. I hope the boys get to some serious rest quickly after this one. One win is good - round out the weekend now in style, Lakers.

Both match ups in the Mid-Western NY tomorrow seem intriguing to me after tonight's action. One would like to see how the Cardinals respond in B-port after the loss, while Potsdam can either become a measuring stick for showing that PSU simply opened badly, or that the Knights are becoming a very dangerous foe.

Someone will probably whine about me saying this but I just don't care. It gave me great joy to watch Plattsburgh get rocked last night. Downright rocked. There wasn't a single facet of the game that they excelled in. That aside. I'm excited for the game today, certainly a trap game. Can't get lazy boys. Lets try and put the Cardinals in the basement this year niiiice and early :D :D

Anyway....

Eric Selleck scored his first professional point (an assist) tonight for the Rochester Americans. I would provide a link, but im too lazy and my computer is too slow. You can check the box score at www.theahl.com or maybe on the Amerks website.

Could happen. But don't get too cocky. Looks like Geneseo team to beat.

Such is the case in Plattsburgh. Our Womens team is very talented and is one of the top teams in the country the past few years.... yet no matter what, the girls only have roughly 50-100 fans on a given night. ofcourse when Midd., Elmira or now Norwich are in town attendance climbs a bit, but never to even 1/2 of what the mens team has on a low night. Usually for the mens games they average about 400 students, the womens team is lucky to see 30 and that's if the entire mens team shows up.

Women's hockey just doesn't have the appeal of the men's game to the general public. It's not anyone's fault. Just the way overwhelming majority of society views the two different styles of the game.

Personally, I love going to women's games. Especially when two teams good teams are involved because I feel it produces some exciting hockey. Sure it's slower and there is no body checking but the girls still have collisions going for a loose puck, which is allowed.

What I like the most is you can watch plays set up a lot easier with the women than you can with the men who play it at a faster pace and its harder to try and decipher what's actually going on and what each team is specifically trying to do.

It's not the same anymore but back when the Elmira won its back-to-back women's titles in 2001 and 2002, the women's team drew more students to games then the men. However, over the past four to five years, EC has slowly started to get a pretty decent student following. I don't know what it's been like this year since I wasn't at the Morrisville or Oswego games but someone can feel free to shed some light on that. The students usually filled up the far left bleacher pretty well, I'd guesstimate 100-150 or so. For big games it might get 200.

As usual, agreeing with you on this one. Its a shame, though. The good thing is, women's hockey has definitely been on the rise the last 5-6 years. The bad thing is, I don't forsee women's hockey garnering the same level of interest as the men's game for the reasons you listed. When I was a student in Plattsburgh, I tried like heck to get the women's team some press. At that time, the men were in their slump years (post-Sundberg, pre-Hince), and the women were just getting over the Elmira hump. They deserved a lot of recognition and weren't getting it.

I personally enjoyed going (working) the women's games because of their success, and like Prez said, actually being able to watch plays being set up. I knew a few of the girls: a great group who seemed to just take what they were given and have fun with it.

Mountie...you can still get tickets at the website...they list it as "very limited" as of right now still...however, I might have one extra "e-ticket" to the game anyway...but i won't know for a few days.

https://tickets.oswego.edu/

The Potsdam and Plattsburgh games are no longer listed online - and judging from photo posted on the WHITEOUT thread, I'd say they are going, going, gone....
