Wait, wait, wait. The ushers are actually checking tickets? That's great! Now there won't be the parents with kids who decide to sit where ever the hell they want in the student section, then complain to UP about language or students saying things like "sieve" or "you suck". Also maybe it will prevent opposing teams' parents from sitting in the student section to yell at the students when they harass the goalie after Oswego scores (**cough** Hobart **cough**). Personally, I think they'll have to check tickets only to make sure they're student tickets because it's almost impossible to not let SRO students to sit in the student section.

Gah - it may be tough being a single game ticket holder to get over to the SS then.
Think they're liable to turn away anyone but sitting students?

Wow, corporate sponsors, cheerleaders, and electronically scanning tickets. Things sure have changed in OZ land. Give me the days when you'd be sitting in the locker room 20 minutes before the game and all you could hear was "Let's Go Lakers", score 0 in between periods for cases of Genesee, and of course the Zoo led by the incomparable Marty Madore guiding all those students who had spent a Friday afternoon happy hour at the Matador spinning the wheel for free drinks. Of course, the new arena is great too.

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

Are they really checking tickets? One of my buddies had a SRO ticket and they didn't check it and we were sitting the whole time. I think the electronic scanners were messed up for Fridays game. There was definitely more that 2100 people at the game. I think there was at least 2500. Thats what an average game drew last year and just by looking around it seemed like there may have been more than the 2500 i think were there.

You just have to pick the right usher to get past. Some are more ambitious than others :)

I had two tickets in the student section last Friday and I sat behind the Elmira bench instead.

I never liked 3 PM starts. It just takes the student base away. Anyone know why the geniuses at the athletic department decided this?

I believe previous poster said it had something to do with Hall of Fame inductions.

Someone previously posted the Oswego Sports Hall Of Fame Dinner is Saturday night...

Why not do a nice late afternoon ceremony, pre-game buffet and bring them out on the ice to drop a ceremonial puck - better than 75 people and rubber chicken, right?:D

Games are live on WTOP and WNYO - http://athletics.oswego.edu/news/2010/10/28/MHOCKEY_1028104848.aspx

I was told by an usher I know that they were instructed to check tickets. I guess some just care more then others. The usher in my section asked to see a ticket eveytime I came back from getting up in between periods.

and as of my last trip last yr, the shed was vacant as well, but old city hall was going strong, and I graduated in 87..........wow

A cheerleading promotion perhaps? Hockey is obviously the biggest draw at OSU, so maybe it was a marketing decision to try and give a decent squad face time...in the wrong atmosphere.

Or maybe the athletic department was trying to compensate for the lack of a mascot being present, and wanted to try something new that all the other SUNYAC clubs don't have.

A fine expectation of 4-0 - Fredonia will be a good fight (hopefully), and Buff State, a decisive victory with prevailing non-overconfidence.

Leave it the athletic department at Oswego State to "try something new" to make more people ****ed off rather then enjoy the game and the true atmosphere. By the way...I have not been up there and could not tell from the WTOP telecasts so far...are the SUNYAC flags even up yet...that was supposed to be done two years ago...when I was specifically told "we will see them soon, we are looking into starting (fresh) with the campus center" basically saying screw romney and tradition...IMHO.

Well, be that as it may...I purchased my Plattsburgh game tickets well in advance and on the website where I purcheaded them it specifically states:

*****
Attention Oswego State Hockey Fans

For Men’s Ice Hockey games, section 51, section 53, sections 54-59, and Standing Room Only areas in the Campus Center Arena are GENERAL ADMISSION seating. Please disregard the row and seat number designations for these sections on your e-Tickets.

For Women’s Ice Hockey games, ALL sections in the Campus Center Arena are GENERAL ADMISSION seating. Please disregard the row and seat number designations for these sections on your e-Tickets.
*****

Thus...even with a SRO or a ticket in any of the other sections...you could actually sit in any of those sections...which includeds the "student section," according tho that policy then.

They are still not up.....Yet they found a way to sew on 2010 to the NCAA and SUNYAC banners they have up.

Nothing like combining all your accomplishments to three banners...Real intimidating.

Shed closed a couple seasons ago for too many underage violations - place is for sale and the price has been slashed (2 min:D).... Ms. Broadwell is anxious to cut all ties.

Yes it is sad to no see the old watering holes and they were holes that the college students went to to either cheer in celebration or lift one to the excuses of the loss gone Sadly only the Shed stands empty. But one should be lifted to Marty for getting the Zoo Crew fired up everygame.
