Pretty cool video of Oswego fans from the 2010 SUNYAC championship. Looked like a pretty fun atmosphere for the CC.

Always a good one, sir - its a shame that you couldn't come out for the game later today, but I'm certain someone will throw in or down an extra cheer or beer, respectively, for you.

As for our Lakers this past night, I'm beginning to suspect that the effects of a neutered C.C. crowd is coming to a peak. One can only yell "YOU SUCK" for so long before it gets extremely old - perhaps it did rattle the Bears' goaltender after a while in the 3rd, but would it be too far of a stretch to ask for a little more...variety?

This also seems to be a new breed of fans that expects non-stop scoring and a crushing Oswego victory this upcoming evening. However, the new emphasis this season seems to be defense and attrition, so since the former expectation often dwindles from crowd excitement to mass boredom boredom after the first goal, this crowd is liable for a huge let down or nail-biter if the C.C. win streak is severely threatened.

Which brings me to the latter part of the first statement - Plattsburgh has the chance to take all the wind out of Oswego State's sails for this semester. Beckwith and his usually reliable, yet sometimes tepid defense picked up a lot of slack tonight before Moody, Starfox and Co. blew it wide open. I don't believe this team is firing on all possible cylinders yet, nor do I think that Plattsburgh will waste away nearly as many opportunities as other teams, when the frequently errant Laker pass is turned over in a dangerous spot.

My conclusion? A Laker victory is still my prediction, and I suppose that is boosted by a general consensus of many that goaltending is a serious issue for PSU. But I am prepared for a letdown - we swept them last year, and this time, THEY are the ones saddled with the yoke to be thrown off.

Great post.

Another 7 goals last night.

At this rate we might be almost as good as Adrian.

Geesh...too early! Got in line last year by 1:00 PM, and there were only 15 people there then (and then everyone and their brother showed up). Perhaps its a new fashion to try beating the earliest time of the year previous now?

Good win, but penalties are going to bite us in the butt if we keep taking them. Platty did a good job on the PP. If their D didn't run out of gas, the game would've been a different story. I hope the fans down there know the Lakers aren't going to score 7 a game and sail to victory. Games like these and Genny are going to be dogfights.

sickest. win. ever.

Agreed 100%. In my opinion, this one will go down in history as one of the best 21st century hockey classics in Division III action, and certainly amongst the best games ever played in the history of the C.C. :D:D:D

Its not entirely my homerism making that statement either - this game had everything a diehard hockey fan wants. Scoring, wild chances, scrums, hits, and enough tension to keep everyone on the edges of their seats to the end. Congrats to the Cardinals for coming down and giving the Lakers one hell of a run for the money too. I know history doesn't treat the defeated as kindly, but it was about as evenly matched a game as possible, especially in terms of mistakes on both sides. It was just the final one that proved to be the game winner, and the puck was delivered by a house favorite past Leis. No hard feelings - the Lakers have defended their barn, and the Cards will have the opportunity to defend theirs yet.

My takes on the game were that Beckwith must have literally willed that puck away from the net in the second and third period, and our D-1 transfers are worth their weight in gold. The man from Cleveland stood on his head in the second half of the game, but when the right side of the net was open on the rebound, it almost seemed the very tip of an errant stick or some "magnetic pull" sent the puck wide every time. It was almost like magic:confused: - but none of those times stuck out more than when Bremner dived to save the puck from coasting in. His stick must have only just tipped it wide.

This brings me to our D-1 boys; Boots has become a fan favorite with his hits and speed (not to mention the ease of a name chant), and now he has the GWG against Platty, in a disciplined display of patience and timing. Bremner, in contrast, was an unsung warrior on defense last night - I lost track of how many times the man tied up multiple Cardinals (and won) while fighting for the puck last night. This takes nothing away from the efforts of all the Lakers made last night, but welcome to Oswego, Boots and Bremner. The crowd loves you.;)

Two last things - even local sports news in Rochester had a followup on the Whiteout game results... and I called that score in the Whiteout Thread. 5-3 - thank you very much! GO LAKERS!

Now thats what I'm freaking talking about Oswego!

Hats off to the student section...that atmosphere looks electric. I only wish you pups could have seen Romney...that amount of students in Romney would have been deafening.

I got chills watching that. Great entrance song too for Oswego. Anyone know the name of it?
