I'm going to Hobart tomorrow, if someone wants a ride from campus down there and back I could use the company as my gf has to work and can't go.

A rather random bit - Jones is going to be the first Canadian goalie I've ever seen play for the Lakers:confused:. Not since beyond Fall '08 anyways - Beckwith, Potter, KGT: all Americans. Sing O Canada extra loud tonight.:D

This is gonna be an interesting game all around. As long as the D doesn't serve up too many ridiculous passes out of the zone, DJ's gonna have a good chance. As good a chance as any with this team, at least.

Does anyone have a Lakers jersey I can borrow for tomorrow nights game in Geneva :eek: I just put a fresh coat of green paint on the horn.....

In all seriousness, I think Jones will be fine. Just as someone mentioned, maybe this is exactly what Oswego needs to cure their defensive "issues"...you don't come to a program like Oswego and not be worth something. Who knows...maybe he will turn out to be a great asset to the Lakers

Good Karma Alert - the Lady Lakers are beating D1 Sacred Heart 7-0 on the Campus Center ice....let's hope they didn't use up the school's daily goal allotment from the hockey gods...

Nice to hear but calling sacred heart a d1 school is a farce. They would be below .500 in diii hockey

Dan Jones will be fine. Works hard, will have obvious jitters. Wish I was there. Dad stands north of pressbox wish him well too. Nerves on fire there too. Proud yet nervous.

My only hope is he doesn't try to hard to make an impression. When a goalie does that they get in big trouble, if he can keep from doing that his skill set is solid enough to get good results.

Emi Williams pitched a shutout today - only had to make 19 stops - a perfect warmup to step in if she is needed...:D:D:D:D:D

:cool:DJ's Got Us Falling in Love Again with Laker Hockey!

I don't know what powers Jones has in his pads, but it seemed almost like magic how so many opportunities for Utica were sold short - errant Laker stick, poor Pioneer position, or some part of DJ's form swiped the puck wide. You name it, and DJ protected the pipes splendidly. That one breakaway stop was nothing short of an epic win for the Lakers - with how far Jones traveled to fight the shot as the Utica forward crossed the net, its a wonder that he didn't injure himself more seriously.

Hobart will be extremely interesting to watch tomorrow - DJ shall now have to prove his mettle on the road. Kudos to Utica - they run a great D, and I could only imagine the frustration that boiled over at the end in coming close again. There's something special in the Lake Ontario water this year, I guess...

Re: Setting Sail - Oswego State Lakers 2010-2011 Season Thread

Tonights game was not one of Oswego's finest for they started out really slow. They got some of their legs in the second though and the third they staked like a team possessed. Whitelaw had a nice redirect but Utica played them straight up in the first. Jones wasn't pretty in goal but he did his job and that was not loose the game. Gotta hand it to him he was in the little skuffel at the end supporting his teammates and not hiding in the goal. It was really good to see the lakers really came together after Jones flirted with an injury. I think Utica only had 2-3 shots on goal for the final 5+ minutes. They did a nice job clamping down defensively to help out Jones.
I would have to say that this game gave the Lakers the biggest challenge for adversity and Utica is a really good team.
