"Security" at your team's rink

Re: "Security" at your team's rink

Once inside there's a fairly large contingent of SCSU Public Safety officers as well as St. Cloud PD monitoring the student sections. For the most part they'll only kick you out if you a) look extremely drunk, b) are openly drinking, or c) fall over. Beyond that you're good to go.

They are also monitoring whoever Bruce Raboin is harrassing.

Okay, and I've heard that a lot from USCHOers too.

Also, since I'm now in GF, I've been taking in several Sioux games. I have noticed no actual changes from the Gophers series (after which they instituted a new "Fan Code of Conduct") to post-Gophers. They scan your ticket, you get in there, and proceed to get obnoxiously drunk with no one really seeming to mind.

Re: "Security" at your team's rink

No need for security at the Schott (tOSU); nobody goes to the games...

Re: "Security" at your team's rink

Interesting. Fellow Irish fans may scorch me for this, but I'm extremely anti-ND right now, with the obvious exception of the hockey team. Their elitist attitude (not just about security, although, heaven forbid a "townie" bring a can of pop to a game) is really getting on my nerves.

That and the fact that in the short time since I left the University, I got a letter stating that my personal information (full name, SSN, birth date) was accidently sent out over the Internet. This from the University that required employees to change their e-mail password every 6 months for security purposes.

Re: "Security" at your team's rink

tDECC is all over the map. We brought in 15 bags of tshirts to sell and the first person to buy one was the cop working the door. Biddco carries a blowup doll around the rink during the lap when tUMD scores (which has been limited to 5 people at a time) but they took away my "Every time a cowbell rings God kills a Husky" sign because it was offensive.

Last time they didn't stop us when we had over 5.

The first time they stopped us, while frustrating was a good thing, UMD had already given up the game tying goal.

Well this one Tech fan that Tech fans do not like complained about our sign. I guess we will have to bring back that sign.

Re: "Security" at your team's rink

Security at Alfond Arena is none, they take your ticket and thats it.

they also let you leave and re-enter... i try to park close enough where i can slip out for a quick beer in between periods...

It wasn't new. I had to sign it every year I got season tickets at the new arena (after the first year). If you get overly obnoxiously drunk...they will kick you out though. Saw it at least once a game while I was there...

It was this weird fat bearded person.
Foxton has a beard?

Security is both lax and stringent at the Ralph, it depends on the security guard, if you've had problems with them before, and how well you know the security guard. As a student my group got to know a few of them pretty well, so they let quite a bit slide with us. But if we crossed the line, even Russ would kick us out. I've also had one ask me and my friends for our IDs while we were drinking with wristbands clearly visible. We were pretty consistent drinkers at the games, so it's not like he hadn't seen us drinking before (in fact I think he's the one who gave one of my friends a minor when she was holding her boyfriends beer while he ran to the bathroom), he just didn't like us and wanted to be an ***.

At Denver, Magness Arena (on the Denver campus) Argus (low wage) contract ushers will look in all coats and bags for non-students. They will also pat you down from time to time if they feel like it. They will also take noisemakers and signs, and while they aren't quite as agressive as they used to be, it's still too much.

The good thing is once you are in, there is all kinds of alcohol for sale.

You will also get kicked out for cheering for Denver on a megaphone...unless you're convincing enough to sell snow to an eskimo.

Right, Swami?:D

Kohl Center = strip search:rolleyes:

Per Mar Security (the firm that handles security at UW events) is absolutely ridiculous.

The list of things you can't bring into the Kohl Center (or, for that matter, Camp Randall) is long and completely obnoxious. They are incredibly annoying about their rules for signs (although, Tech fans, if you bring it on an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper, and if it doesn't offend their delicate sensibilities, you can bring it in). You can't even bring in a flag if you wear it as a cape (what do you do if you buy one at the in-arena store?). Mild pat downs are common. They will ask you to open your coat when you come in. Purse inspections for all.

A Per Mar employee once gave me a warning (ha!) when I was taunting UMD players after a period was over. The thing that I was doing differently from the other 3,000 Crease Creatures? I singled out a player with long, blonde hair by calling him Goldilocks. I'm not kidding. That got one of them to give me a talking to.

Per Mar, and basically the entire Athletic Department administration, can kiss the fattest part of Matt Lepay's ***.

The Ralph security laughed their ***es off when we called Jon Durno of Canisius a Wookie. They loved all the Chewbacca themed stuff we brought the next night as well.

Hanging mascots were allowed too. In fact one of the Ralph's security people told us that when we played BSU that year we should shave the beaver. :D

Re: "Security" at your team's rink

I was not asked. I was ordered. I responded by saying "Well Boosh isn't wearing pants, so why should I have to?" They disagreed.

Excuse me?

Domers, elitist attitudes? What do you take us for, fools? Lies, I tell you, lies!

(I'm the son and brother of alumni, I know all too well ;))

If you want a good time at the Kohl Center, after the game, go wait by the service door to the 'basement' near one of the entrances, I'm not sure which, but they will release all the Mexicans and Hmongs from the basement to clean the arena. It is priceless :D

Involves being subjected to "the look" at Munn if you initiate a non-sanctioned, unscheduled cheer, taunt, ref-baiting, or anything else that interrupts the 20-minute cell-phone call from the patron behind you.
Other than that, anything goes.
