Seawolves vs Bulldogs: It Sure Won't Be A Catfight

Re: Seawolves vs Bulldogs: It Sure Won't Be A Catfight

Funny how Ferris has to create a "rivalry" with a team in the NCHC to prop themselves up and appear relevant. You'll get throttled by the first team you play in the NCAAs. Goons.
Sam Mellor and his family made a horrible mistake transferring to your school. What a horrendous blunder. Poor kid. He should probably transfer back to UAA where he scored 4 times as many goals two years ago as a freshman. Crammed down on the 3rd and 4th line centering ankle-benders all year? Didn't your coach used to know something about hockey players in some big-shot hockey league or something? What happened with that? He couldn't cut it in the show? What's he going to do when all of Blashill's/Culhane's players graduate?

More than half our goals have been scored by Murray recruits this year... and our team has done nothing but progress since he came here.

You have no idea what your talking about and you look foolish. What did the 6 goals we scored on you in Fairbanks leave you with a bad taste in you mouth?

Re: Seawolves vs Bulldogs: It Sure Won't Be A Catfight

Pffffffffft.....no way those elitist are going to let bottom dwellers like us back in their midsts. It's enjoyable now to watch that league and see who is who and where they end up in their new pecking order...kind of lulz really.
Game at hand...1st place Ferris, coach of the year (cough...hack) all that jazz. Let's go boys D up on this one and let's play again on Saturday. Scoring last weekend was sweet from the not so usual suspects. Let's see some more of that. Winner moves on, ask yourself, "why not you?"

At least the NACHO teams have their travel bills to keep them company... And I wish I was a better person but seeing Miami repeatedly dead last was pretty priceless after the temper tantrum that was realignment.

But back to the game, I was at the Ferris vs UAA games earlier this year and thought they were both really fun games to watch. I think Ferris has it in them to win but I will be watching all four teams with great interest. I think they all have the potential to be dangerous for their own reasons.

I think the one who looks foolish is the lone Western fan trolling this thread.

And when he tells "that guy" he has no idea what he's talking about he's spouting his ignorance.
"That guy" may have positions you vehemently disagree with however I assure you he knows what he's talking about.

Hindsight is 20/20. Given the circumstances at UAA at the time, and Shyiak's relationship (or lack of) with the players, I can't say I blame Sam for leaving. Having said that, I bet he wishes he would have stayed because Thomas is doing great things at UAA.

Let's see, yes, Ferris has had fewer NCAA tournament appearances then WMU, but in their two attempts have made it past the first round. In '03 they won in the first round and lost in the regional final to the eventual champion, Minnesota. And, of course, they made it to the final of the National Championship in 2012 against BC. Western, in their five NCAA appearances, have lost in the first round.

If you want to flame me for being an NMU fan, I suggest you compare Northern's tournament history to Bronco history before you do so. Alaska-Anchorage, FSU, and NMU, Division II schools competing with the likes of DI schools like WMU  ;)

Just be glad that Blashill and then Murray have turned that program around in K-zoo, because before that I used to go down to Lawson to watch a lot of easy wins by the opposing teams.

And since this is a Seawolves/Bulldogs thread, I'll just say that I hope Ferris can move on to the final...I think that will be better for attendance. ;)

Wait, what? Bring on that pre-season team against any of the WCHA teams now. I'd bet the result was a lot different. Not only against the teams you deemed D2, but against Alaska, Bowling Green, Michigan Tech, MSUM, Bemidji, LSSU, and UAH.

Oh come on, who doesn't like a Cinderella story? I think UAA could drive attendance up! :D

And I hope the Seawolves beat the Bulldogs and go on to win the Broadmore.

Article on Brad Duwe.

And I will say, in my mind, Duwe has earned Free Pass* status for two GWG in the playoffs against UAF.

*Free Pass status meaning he has had significant achievement against UAF and therefore, no matter what he does in the future, he gets a free pass. Notable members include Justin Bourne (scored an OT winner in Fairbanks and signed his stick with a Sharpie in front of the UAF student section) and Shane Lovdahl (scores very little in his career, gets 4 points in one game against UAF).

The Dump bears can’t take the fact that UAA beats them up heads up almost sport for sport. Latest tally is for total wins heads up play is UAA 290 vs. UA_ 142 and they just starting the stats in 1977 to be nice, and the best is it’s over 200 days before they can attempt their next victory over UAA

UA_ would lose as most of their soldiers leaders are in jail.

The NACHO west would cry like babies about going to Alaska twice a season.

The Seawolves are firing on all cylinders now it will be a close game.

Firing on all cylinders? They were all one goal games...and if the Nooks had consistent goaltending then it would have been a different story Saturday.

We can't stand the fact that UAA leads the overall match up? How abot UAA fans can't stand that twice since it started now we've won 5 straight Gov Cups in the series. Also UAA fans can't stand we outperform them in the skills department when it comes to shootouts.

I'd rather lose to my rival because some of our key players were injured than go on to get whooped by Ferris. Your season may be longer but only by a week. Enjoy it!

Yeah, that annoys the hell out of me. Don't care how many basketball games or track meets UAA wins, if they can't win the Gov's Cup beating UAF in the other sports is a weak consolation prize. That said, the Gov's Cup has never been more hollow than this year :D

You can use those "skills" watching us on TV this weekend. Keep that cup shined up.

I will happily watch the Bulldogs embarrass you on national television. I'll use those tissues though to wipe away the tears from laughing.

Congrats to CJ Motte on being a top ten Hobey finalist. Can't say the version of him I saw in Fairbanks is deserving but he kept Ferris on their hot unbeaten streak so I guess I can understand it, hope he can finish strong...or trip a player on a breakaway and fling his helmet off to prevent a goal. ;)

But yeah, GO FERRIS!
