Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

Going to need MN to choke once in East Lansing next weekend.
Unfortunately. Michigan had them beat, outplayed them most of the game, and except for a 90 ft bouncing puck that went in, we'd be in the cat bird seat right now. Sigh!. Though I do have to admit we are not playing like a team that will do ok in the tournament.
I don't know what it is about the second period, but we have had bad second periods all year and it has hurt us. Against Michigan, two goal lead, we lose, Against Yale, the second was by far our worst period, in the first game at BG the second was terrible. We just let off the gas.

I noticed the band played a song by the Squirrel Nut Zippers last night. And I thought I was the only SNZ fan left in the world.

Great song. I liked that album quite a bit!

And for those that don't peruse the MN thread/GPL, MN is basically down to "win the B1G or bust." Even if they win out, and lose the B1G Tourney title game to MI, they are out, barring some major crapping of the bed, which Tech almost did last night.

Sounds like Tech is in a similar position.

Yeah, everything would have to go perfectly to get to 13 or 14, and then, unlikely we hold 13 or 14 if we lose the Broadmoor. Only realistic way to qualify this year is the Broadmoor.

With our weak NC schedule and the WCHA poor performance against the NCHC, the at large bid was pretty much a goner with the GLI championship loss.

Hear that. This team will be tough to beat down the stretch if they figure out how to play 60 minutes and how to maintain intensity with a lead. Too many players involved in the offense for a team to focus on any one line.

But if they can't figure it out...

So tonight, hoping it's the first step towards a full 60 minutes of intensity.

I think it's partly a playing down / playing up to the competition level.
They got up for the big series against Mankato and BG, but a little flat against LSSU, Bemidji on Friday and now against UA_.

It all comes back to effort and intensity. When they have it, they can play with / beat anybody. When they don't.....hooo boy, long / tough sledding night.

Thanks, Denny Green... :p

"They are who we thought they were."
"When we play, like we play, we can play with anyone."
There.

To be a good team, first you have to win at home, then you have to win on the road.

Just to make the trifecta of Green-isms.

Not really true. Shirtless Guy has run the scenarios. At large bid is still definitely in play.

I doubt its true for Minnesota either...I mean they probably have to win their next 4 regular season games plus get to the B1G Final, but I'm sure there are options to get Minnesota in as At Large...granted they get screwed alot because of their bad NC record and losing H2H matchups all over the west so questions of what is good for them are a little more difficult.

Going with general assumptions (as in: the favorites win most if not all the time, for the rest of the year). Sure, anything is possible, but what is PROBABLE? If either team were sitting at 13-14, I wouldn't be worrying as much, but 16? Ugh.

Your team is in a worse spot than Tech is. You lose comparisons to MSUM, BSU, and UMD, which hurts a bunch. Its actually not too much of a challenge to get Tech in without winning the Broadmoor without a bunch of upsets.

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

Gotcha.

Obviously, anyone near or ahead of MN, I want to lose. Sorry, Tech. Off the bandwagon for the time being. :(

Absolutely best case before last night I could get Tech to 10th in pwr without winning broadmoor. The Huskies can be 14th after tonight...and tonight's games will make predictions way easier with 3 conferences done.

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

Heart attack Huskies this weekend. Way to go out and get the 4 points and keep it interesting.

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

If Duluth wins tonight they will go by us in the pairwise, but still they have a tough series next weekend.

Re: Season 95, Vol 2: Michigan Tech '15-'16

Huskies should finish the night 15th in the PWR regardless of the MSU vs UAA game. About as good as we could have hoped for this weekend. The team only had about a 3% chance of finishing the weekend 14th with a sweep...Actually did better than expected with 15th...There was about a 82% chance they'd finish the weekend below 15th with the sweep according to Jim Dahl's analysis.

EDIT Sigh,
manurespreader is right, I screwed up transitioning from live scoring yesterday to today.
