SCSU @ UW: Hey, I can see the basement from here!

If the Huskies can win 5 of their next 6, I think they will be in a decent position to make the NCAA tourney. Against Wisconsin, UAA and Tech I think it is possible. Despite the results last weekend, I liked the effort and think the departures/injuries have brought the team together.

We have Lee back and combined with Faragher, I think we have goaltending that can keep us in a game against anyone. I like our defensive play, which has been a rarity over Motzko's tenure. Gravel is great, I think Jensen has regressed a bit but is still solid. Prochno has been very good especially on offense. Daly has played pretty well. Rabey has improved a lot overof this season. Zabs has been okay, which I think is an improvement from last season. I still think Taylor Johnson is awful.

Long story longer, I think the goalies and defense have been the strength of this team and if/when we get some forwards back and can put more pressure on the other teams goalie, we will run off some games. Hopefully it starts this weekend.

I'll do you one better... I think we could win the next six. We still won't be in a place to make the NCAAs. The WCHA non conference results has made everyone's SOS pedestrian. I mean that would be only two wins against TUCs right?

It is official, Christian will have surgery on both knees and his college career is done. Not a big points guy, but as solid a citizen, team mate, and person as you will find. Good luck in your future.

It is really to bad especially since he really turned the corner this year and had an important role on this team. I wish him all the luck in the future.

It sounds like Novak will be back in the line up after the bye week when they play UAA. That is very good news and hopefully the team can steal some points this weekend against sconnie.

Have you seen this UW team? I don't consider us going there and taking points "stealing." I consider any points they get this weekend being "stolen" from us by the injury bug/departing players

Re: SCSU @ UW: Hey, I can see the basement from here!

What couple of forwards?
I doubt Christian comes back and he's not a scoring force anyway.
Novak maybe, but we don't know what his injury is yet.
LeBlanc is supposedly considering a redshirt and I doubt he'll be very effective right away even if he does come back.
We're basically a 3 line team for the rest of the year.

Who cares if Christian isn't a scoring force? He is better than putting Zabkowicz, Johnson or Rabey at forward. I said if/when, not that we are definitely getting them back. You are assuming we aren't getting them back. There is still over a month left to get one, maybe two, maybe all three guys back.

Christian's done, but I think we'll get the other two back. And I REALLY hope Bob learned his lesson and leaves Rabey at the blueline, that's where the kids belongs dammit, I don't mind putting Zabs or Johnson at F 'cause then they're making mistakes at the other end of the ice.

Christian is done, surgery on both knees.
Novak sounds like is coming back against UAA
LeBlanc again is seriously considering a red-shirt.
I'd say we get one back, and we still won't play the 4th line much, so we are still a 3 line team for the rest of the year.

Alrighty then, I guess this makes my previous post obsolete. This season blows worse than last season.

I disagree wholeheartedly. I'd rather have a team that's fighting and has had to deal with injuries and departures than a team picked by EVERYONE to finish 2nd in the WCHA and just fall flat on their face.

So the dominant conference this year is the...

Cup Cake Hockey Association?!?!?!?!?!?!

What the hell is going on?

Not me, last season we had no excuses. We just weren't as good as we, or others, thought we were. Not much to complain about there. This season, we lost our Captain and leading scorer, as well as our #1 goalie by a mile in the first conference series. I think this season is worse because it makes you think about what might have been. Last season, we just flat-out sucked.

Look at the talent on that team, why are we better this year? We had a good freshman class this year for sure, but we lost Roe, Dunn, Marvin and Lauridsen, so if this year's team with all those injuries can have about the same record as last year's I think that goes to show how much effort and consistency killed us last year. Something else that's hurt us both years, being anti-clutch. We've scored as many goals as we have given up this year in conference play, yet we're 3 games under .500. UNO has scored one more goal than they've given up and are plus three. Gotta find a way to win those close ones.

At the Motzko radio show, he will be using all lines from now on.
