SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

Re: SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

Is there any truth to the rumor that Aaron Marvin took out a 6 year old fighting for the skeeball machine? :D

Now that's funny!

I'm also dead serious about the goalie rotation continuing (no matter how far this team goes.) It's been in place essentially the entire season, why would Bob change it up now?! I thought Dunn may get the nod but after giving up 3 in the first last Friday it's a rotation throughout, all the way to the Nat'l Championship folks........get on board and hang on!

Until they actually win a NCAA game I don't think we need to worry about that.:(

The kid turned his head into Marvy's knuckle. Not his fault he's 2-1/2 feet taller.

Exactly!! I'm also hearing that Marvin is using the "I thought it was Ryan Lasch" defense.

Huskies get a commitment from NAHL forward Cory Thorson of the Owatonna Express. Anybody know anything about him? Anytime we get a commit from the NAHL, I can't get excited.

Here is his bio

http://nahlowatonna.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=2238311

here is the release from Allenspach....

Thorson, who is from Crystal, is 6-foot-1 and weighs 190 pounds. In his second season with Owatonna, he has 22 goals and 29 assists for 51 points through 54 games. He's also plus-11 with 18 penalty minutes and six power-play goals.

"Coach (Bob) Motzko and (Eric) Rud and (Mike) Gibbons all recruited me and when I got the chance to visit St. Cloud State it was something I couldn't pass up," said Thorson, who'll turn 20 on July 4. "I had some interest from other schools but the chance to play close to home was a key for me ... and it's especially appealing the way they're playing right now. I'm hoping for the best and that they can go on and win the Final Five and do well in the NCAA Tournament. It would be nice to come in and be a part of something like that."

In 112 career games, Thorson has 99 points (50 goals, 49 assists) and is plus-13 with 41 PIM and 13 power-play goals.

"I'm offensive-minded, but I've been learning to play better defense in Owatonna," said Thorson, who played at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School.

Last year he visited Connecticut and had a couple of other visits lined up before deciding to commit to SCSU.

"I know (Huskies recruits) Brandon Burrell and Nick Jensen, and I played at Select festivals with Ben Hanowski, so I'm looking forward to coming in and joining those guys," Thorson said.

First, Thorson and the Express have four more regular-season games plus the NAHL playoffs. His team has the second-best record in the Central Division and he's tied for 10th in the league scoring race -- just six points out of the top five.

I have 2 lower level center ice tickets (Section 104, Row 20, Seats 11-12) to sell for the WCHA Final Five.

Face Value for the tickets is:

Thursday March 18th 7:00 pm ($18 per ticket)
Friday March 19th 2:00 pm ($33 per ticket)
Friday March 19th 7:00 pm ($43 per ticket)
Saturday March 20th 2:00 pm ($23 per ticket)
Saturday March 20th 7:00 pm ($43 per ticket)

Face Value is $320 for both tickets for all 5 games. I'm will to sell the 2 tickets for individual games also. If you're interested in one, some or all of the games email me at Sunnybasic@msn.com

Congrats to Lasch on tying the school assist record, now just 1 point from tying the points record too.

Yeah, I was surprised to learn that on the radio tonight. I did not realize they gave a post-game added assist for Friday's game.

Re: SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

Is the rule of not being allowed to change lines after you ice the puck going to be revisited?

The refs cannot keep track of who was on the ice and get the right guys back on the ice...both teams this weekend had instances of new guys on the ice for the face-off. It even took about 1 minute during one point to get it right...so much for the disadvantage of icing the puck when the game is slowed down by getting the right players out there.

I guess I should not be surprised, this is the WCHA.

Re: SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

So here we go again. Who starts in net on Friday?

Dan Dunn's play has suffered lately, and Mike Lee's on a two game win streak to make his numbers surprisingly comparable to Dunn's except for win / loss record.

Lee seems to play better in pressure games, but he was average, if not awful, in Madison last month.

With two games certain to be played this weekend and the team is a lock for seeding into the NCAAs, I'm thinking Motzko goes with the rotation and starts Dunn. Just a guess.

Motzko just said on his coaches show he isn't saying who is playing in goal yet.

I don't want your tickets, but what's it cost for an 8th of whatever you're smoking if you think you're getting CLOSE to face value for your tickets.

No Gophs = No Demand. Face Value is $320 for the seats? I'll give you $25. :D

Getting pumped for Friday, and the bball team got the week started off right, winning the region and advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight for the second time, good for them and let's hope hockey can be similarly clutch.

Re: SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

We hate everybody and everybody hates us, should make for a great Final 5. Put in the goalie who is going to win. It's time for one of them to actually steal a game.

Re: SCSU Season Thread 2-Do We Hate Everybody as Much as They Hate Us?

Schroeder signed with Vancouver... I almost feel bad for the gophs.

No, no I don't, just think about how bad they will be next year :D :D :D
