SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

Interesting take from the SC Times that student apathy will actually lead to the new fees being successfully passed and football and the other sports will be saved:

http://www.sctimes.com/article/20100830/SPORTS04/108300056/Rennecke-column--Best-guess-is-SCSU-fee-vote-will-pass

Edit: Found the record book for 2008, there were only 5 games, and avg attendance was 4,004 (40th out of 144th D2 teams). 2009 was, indeed 4,112 and that ranked 38th out of 148 D2 teams.

From what I understand that is very miss leading. That counts 2,000 student seats and from what I understand they almost never get a 1,000 students to show up. also, students get in for free so they are not getting money for those seats.

Hey, nothing wrong with those Cougars. There's just something about young women. I think it's that they're young, and they're women! Now I have to give my Dandy Doodle a Yankee!

Re: SCSU Huskies 2010 Off-Season Thread

I knew there were student seats that were always "sold out" just like hockey, however, I didn't realize half the stadium was designated as student sections. I guess my estimate of 2000 paying customers should be more like 1500 after students and giveaways. That would make $67000 about in the right ballpark. I still think by leaving out other revenues related directly to football, they are manipulating the numbers to try to make their point.

The student seat money is hard to count and I am not sure how they do it. The school get's X amount per credit from students for the student seats. My first couple of years at SCSU we had what they called a sports pass. If you bought that pass you got into all games free. The funny thing is if you went to a hockey game they stamped your pass, but didn't stamp them for any other sport. The reason was basically no students went to any other sports. The Football team didn't get more than a couple hundred students at any games.

Then my third year the students passed a student fee that allowed all students to get into games for free. The problem with that is the student fee's produce the student tickets at a far reduced rate because they are counting some of the money for Hockey, football and Basketball. The farce in all of this is most of the students seats at hockey games are filled, but almost all the seats at football and basketball games are empty. So the amount of money hockey brings in is actually to low and the amount football and basketball bring in is to high.....

So, you're saying sometimes it's the same and sometime's it's different?

By the way, Roe, Hepp, and Marvin have been named captains. Word is that N.D. is petitioning the WCHA to rescind Marvin and Hepp.:p

I LIKE it. We went from the namby-pamby's of the league to the Broadstreet Bullies in a year!

I'm debating whether or not I should apply for the assistant coaching position. I think I'll use the Dahlie Llama job search strategy--if they call, I'll answer.

My concern would be what kind of smoke would be billowing out of the film room, Skeets!
