SCSU @ DU: A Mile Above the Rest

Because UNH is a very good team, they weren't physical against them and lost. I am hoping they avoid the same fate this weekend.

So games against teams who aren't good, don't matter?
I'm just trying to follow why the UNH games are what you are singling out.
Yes UNH is a good team but those were also the first games of the year, and there has been nothing to suggest they won't be ready for DU.

DU has a Finnish goalie.
SCSU has a Finnish goalie.
How aboit the coaches let then play against each other?

Yeah but yours has a chance of playing this weekend. Fair warning, if anybody gets a breakaway on Olkinuora I will be the drunk guy in the stands yelling "Finnish Him!"

I was at this game, but I think it had mostly faded from memory until just now. Ugh.
That game really sums up DU hockey for the past 5 years or so. Playing lazy hockey or playing too cautiously for most of the game and then relying of the stars wake up to pull the game out of the fire.

So far this season DU has been playing far more consistently and evenly and working hard for goals.

This team isn't relying on or expecting the high draft picks to score goals. The new "schemes" put in by Gwoz and the hard work espoused by team captain Paul Phillips at media day have been evident this season. It is truly a team effort.

All I can say is: keep it up, get better each game, and keep winning!

Great game by SCSU. Played hard all 60 minutes, got a little puck luck on the defensive end, but Faragher played well.

Re: SCSU @ DU: A Mile Above the Rest

Gwozdecky's post game comments basically said that DU got their arse kicked by a team that came out and played well out of the gate. I also inferred from his comments that SCSU is a quality team and that our wins against Tech were against a team of slow-arse turtles, which they are. lol. It will be fun to see how DU responds tomorrow. I think the Finn, Juho Oklahoma (sic) will be in net tomorrow. Go DU!

Re: SCSU @ DU: A Mile Above the Rest

First time post on this site but very seasoned hockey follower and most importantly SCSU follower. It was great to see that we just were the better team tonight. We had more determination and were first to the puck. D played great and did not let them transition well and our forecheck was consistent. Big fan of this Freshman class for the huskies and am real excited with the leadership as well. We obviously need the big man Hano back but really impressive to see this team perform without the true leader tonight. Hopefully Ben can get some rest and recover soon! Need another sound defensive effort tomorrow and hopefully they can pull off a huge road sweep.
