SCSU at CC: Small Rivalry - Big Weekend

Re: SCSU at CC: Small Rivalry - Big Weekend

Well we got the two points I said we needed. Now it's time for the gravy!!!

Re: SCSU at CC: Small Rivalry - Big Weekend

lol I was never hoping for a split. I'm not Craig Dahl. I just said we needed at least two points out of this weekend.:p

Hey, somebody got the Dahl reference. :p

I was once told by a wise sage that Dahl told the media in Alaska after a Friday win that they were looking for the split.

Re: SCSU at CC: Small Rivalry - Big Weekend

Dunn was awful. Any normal performance and SCSU wins 5-1 or 5-2. 0 for 3 on the powerplay with no shots on goal, poor goaltending, and some pretty bad mistakes, and yet a 9th straight win. I think I am somehow pleased with the ability to toss all those negatives into a road game at CC and see a 5-4 win. Hopefully they keep it going tonight.

Re: SCSU at CC: Small Rivalry - Big Weekend

The key to a sweep is to win on Friday. So I believe we are now set up for a sweep. Dahl has left the building. I'm sure that if the gophers call, he will listen. He'd be a good fit for their next head coach.

Re: SCSU at CC: Small Rivalry - Big Weekend

The next head coach of the Minnesota Golden Gophers?

They would be guaranteed splits every weekend!:D Maybe we should start a petition to send to A.D. Maturi, he was just stupid enough to extend Brewster the rooster, the happy recruiter's contract for two more mediocre years! :p

Being a little more serious and inquisitive, what is the CCHA's point system? Every team in our league would be in the bottom half according to their point system.

They have a shootout system so I know they get 3 pts for every win. Guessing 2 pts if they tie and and win the shootout and 1 pt if they tie and lose the shootout.

They changed to that system this year. Last year 2 points went to the winner whether or not the game went into OT and the shoot out and IIRC some lost out on home ice because the split the final 2 games in regulation earning 2 points and another team gout 3 points by splitting in shoot outs.

I think the NHL needs to go to this system as well as teams may try harder to get the win.

Or... you know.... let ties stand. You know how dumb it is to see the second to last team in the Western Conference like two games above .500 at the end of the year?
