All those votes you steal to flip the -3 suburban districts come from someplace and typically the geography doesn't let you take them from say +30 rural districts. You're taking them from +7/8/9/10 districts, so if the pendulum ever swings to a net -8 you don't just lose the districts you've been stealing you suddenly get destroyed in those districts you would have still held had you played fair.

The stinger in the tail of gerrymandering is when it finally falls apart you go into freefall. The GOP has been snickering along for a decade but eventually they're going to roll double sixes and when that happens they are so massively f-cked it barely bears thinking about.

In addition to your well stated analysis I'd also say that those lines were drawn 10 years ago when the electorate's leanings were a bit different. As in that was before educated people starting running for the door. Even with an extreme gerrymander Virginia's legislature was on a knife's edge before the courts stepped in and redrew the lines.

Unfortunately its going to be a state by state slog but its starting to pay dividends. Re-elect Whitmer and one more state supreme court justice to enforce the referendum and Michigan is on its way.

Yes, agreed completely. It will be a house-to-house battle, literally, where we are fighting to control each state leg to roll back vote suppression and police the outright electoral fraud the Nazis are now relying on. The deep south (MS, AL, LA, TN) and the, I dunno, "deep prairie"? (KS, NE, OK, WY) are lost forever, but almost everywhere else we should have a fighting chance of dislodging the fascists. But there will also be setbacks where they keep stealing elections, like NC and FL. We just have to keep going. Our defeatism is the Nazis' best ally.

Yep, I see that. OTOH, Latinos are going to be voting 80/20 for Democrats from now on, and Latinos will be 40% of the electorate soon.

I'll let the legal beagles chime in, but unfortunately the case for keeping DACA doesn't seem that strong. Basically its that if one President can essentially sign an executive order shielding these people, another President has the right to rescind that order. Proof that elections have consequences (although truth be told after talking to trix he's convinced me that Hillary also would have rescinded DACA ;) ).

I'd offer Trump 250 Billion dollars for his wall for DACA. Today. These people, those kids, that have gone to school here, lived here their whole lives, joined the military to fight for our country, those people do not deserve to have their lives upended.

Nancy, get it done. Now. Don't wait.

Not only would McConnell not lift a finger, Trump routinely agreed to even smaller amounts in 2017 until Stephen Miller whispers in his ear and shuts it down, leaving the Democratic base infuriated with Pelosi and Schumer for offering a wall while also accomplishing nothing

And they would be wrong. But, it's like Medicare for All. The party sucks at messaging and it's infuriating.

That isnt the Party being bad at messaging...that is certain sections of the base being against any concessions for any reason. The #NoMiddleGround crowd.

We're beyond middle ground. We offered a compromise already and it was rejected. We need to make an offer he either cannot refuse or will suffer politically for refusing.

There is no offer he cant refuse. If he makes that deal the racists revolt. Every time he hints at a DACA deal they are out en masse like Bernie Bots after a poll is released. Even the Wall isnt enough.

Unless we make a deal where all the DACA recipients end up in Dachau he cant afford a deal.

No, that's just a tactic.

#nomiddleground is a card you play during a negotiation. My proposal is to expropriate all the wealth of everyone with over $10M in assets and send them to a rendering plant to be made into rainbow flag pins. You won't even consider taking all their wealth but letting them live out their lives in Flint, MI! Therefore you are #nomiddleground.

Sorry but they arent negotiating. I know you want to believe in their purity but the facts dont bare it out. We will see where they stand if Bernie loses.

Note: not all Bernie fans are these people.

This. The Trumpiest 25% of the Trumpsters were opposed to trading DACA for the wall, since it's basically a given that at least 2/3 of them would become D voters upon attaining citizenship.

In all honesty: how would you know? What is the basis for your beliefs about this set of people other than media narratives which are at best facile and which, given the ownership of media, are highly suspect?
