I assume they could basically scold him as well, by either publicly or privately "reprimanding" or "censuring" him or some such thing?

Are they even going to look into it? Seems like it would be odd to spend any time on it as they have no jurisdiction and it's all on congress at this point.

WASHINGTON — Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley on Thursday asked for a criminal investigation into whether Julie Swetnick and her attorney, Michael Avenatti, conspired to provide false statements to Congress and obstructed a congressional investigation during the confirmation process for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Grassley wrote in a letter to the Justice Department that Swetnick and Avenatti made serious allegations that required significant resources to investigate. But Grassley says information from media interviews and elsewhere indicates their statements "likely contained materially false claims."

If anybody is foolish enough to move on that, a victim's rights group, sexual assault survivor's group, or the ACLU would take up the cause and the accuser will be charged a grand total of $0. And her name will be cleared, and the courts will smack down the prosecutors/complainants who agreed to do their master's will.

If in fact the accuser did make that up...real victims in many situations may be reluctant in coming forward due to crappy political touchdown dancing on the right.

I don't think any of the accusers were fabricating anything. Their evidence might not have been the strongest, but I think they were sincere in their statements. The problem is that the GOP wasn't going to let anything short of video evidence of the man tea bagging a male classmate come between their pick and the SCOTUS.

Of course. There are likely hundreds if not thousands who...because this one is false...that all of them are. I'm guessing Flaggy is firmly in that camp.

No easy task. Her religious beliefs and how they guided her policy choices made her downright scary. Not that King isn't. Grassley is just an adled old bigot.

I know it's probably been explained here before, but it still seems odd she could get elected when her district included some suburban areas. Maybe that accounted for only a small proportion.
