Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

They're hanging onto Kavanaugh because there are zero good options except to hope like all h ell that he crushes it on Thursday (if that even happens) while his multiple accusers look shaky. Assuming that doesn't happen, the options are:

1) STILL try to ram Kavanaugh through and face a wicked backlash as an exchange for getting another SCOTUS provided that 2 out of 3 of Collins-Murkowski-Flake don't screw you. Kav is already the most unpopular potential justice since Bork and we know how that one turned out.

2) Convince Chump to retreat (good luck) and pull the nomination, thus putting prior sexual assault front and center as disqualifying for high office (hmmm...who else could that apply to) while hanging the nutter caucus who stuck their necks out for him high and dry.

3) Have him go to the Senate and be voted down, thus freeing Chump of having to retreat and allowing him to rail against the Senate. Say Itch orchestrates Flake and Corker to vote no since they're retiring anyway. While this would then allow another nominee to be chosen good luck getting that done anytime soon. The amount of vetting of the next choice is going to be insane and can't be done in two months time.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

They will not willingly change course on Kavanaugh. The modern conservative mind will not do what is prudent if it means 'giving in' or 'surrendering' on really anything. It does make you wonder if that's tied to its emerging less educated constituency.

Part of me wonders if this stems from not wanting a "flip flopper" label or accusation. I still wonder how and why changing your position based on evidence and circumstances became taboo.

John Kerry. The GOP used that as a center piece of the campaign against him. They even had prop flip flops at their convention. That along with the Swift Boating destroyed any chance Kerry had of winning.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Well Conway is telling people "he is no Later or Moonves" and the Senate GOP still says full steam ahead. If I ran a Demo SuperPac I would be making ads right now...

Boys will be boys. Everyone gropes women and covers their mouth to shut them up when they're 17. I think you take the class for it when your 16 or so.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

"There is now a frenzy to come up with something—anything—that will block this process and a vote on my confirmation from occurring," Kavanaugh writes in a letter to the Judiciary Committee. "These are smears, pure and simple. And they debase our public discourse."

"The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out. The vile threats of violence against my family will not drive me out. The last-minute character assassination will not succeed," Kavanaugh writes

I was in the AP course where we learned to whip it out in front of randoms and try and get some.

Wow, I knew all these women were liars! And now all the people from Yale who signed a letter backing her up are liars too!!!
We took that class in high school- how to drop false accusations to block men from getting jobs!!!

That is the type of stuff in talking about. That is too specific to be a random guess.

They did the same thing with Anita. They refused to call witnesses.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

According to the New Yorker their source is not the same as the new source so these are all different people fwiw.

Correct. Avenatti has stated that Ramirez is not his source which is who the New Yorker has.

If the GOP doesn't look into this further them Avenatti needs to walk into the office at WaPo with his client and give them everything. (Not the Times cause they will try and water it down). Then he needs to call CBS and get her on 60 minutes.

The GOP is going to ignore this so don't let the people do it.

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Kavanaugh is headed to Fox News to explain himself. Lol.

Derps who warch Fox already believe him

Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?

Right so what makes Kav so special? Maybe his unique beliefs of executive power. Of course those beliefs would be put to the test in either 2020 or 2024.

I've said from the beginning that K's position on executive power was a prime motivator for Trump in nominating him. Because Trump cares more about Trump than he does about Roe v. Wade or any other line of cases.
