Re: Scotus 11: Will Thomas Ever Speak Again?
They're hanging onto Kavanaugh because there are zero good options except to hope like all h ell that he crushes it on Thursday (if that even happens) while his multiple accusers look shaky. Assuming that doesn't happen, the options are:
1) STILL try to ram Kavanaugh through and face a wicked backlash as an exchange for getting another SCOTUS provided that 2 out of 3 of Collins-Murkowski-Flake don't screw you. Kav is already the most unpopular potential justice since Bork and we know how that one turned out.
2) Convince Chump to retreat (good luck) and pull the nomination, thus putting prior sexual assault front and center as disqualifying for high office (hmmm...who else could that apply to) while hanging the nutter caucus who stuck their necks out for him high and dry.
3) Have him go to the Senate and be voted down, thus freeing Chump of having to retreat and allowing him to rail against the Senate. Say Itch orchestrates Flake and Corker to vote no since they're retiring anyway. While this would then allow another nominee to be chosen good luck getting that done anytime soon. The amount of vetting of the next choice is going to be insane and can't be done in two months time.
