The Constitution, available here, Constitute, spells out the responsibilities and authorities pretty clearly.
Article I, Section 2
The House of Representatives … shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.
The House initiates the process, by drawing up charges.

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.
The Senate decides whether or not to remove the President, based on those charges.
However, the Chief Justice does preside over that trial.
Dont fall into the trap of thinking Trump thinks like that. Plus I dont think the SC can stop Mueller at this point or Trump would have already made a run at it. (as Clinton would have) I am not even sure the SC can overrule an impeachment since it is a political not legal situation.

I thought the same thing. Until it occurred to me that he almost certainly asked, “Who’s going to be most loyal to me?” Or something to that effect.
Of course, his staff knows that’s a stupid question, aside from Miller who was excited about juice box time. So they told him that it was the guy who would be least likely to rule in favor of mueller.
I am not taking about loyalty...I am talking about the fact that nominating him to the Court does zero to help him with Mueller. The Supreme Court cannot block Mueller from going after Trump no matter how loyal they are.
This guy will side with Trump on everything but his hands are tied in this case. If he tried to stop Mueller it would cause a Constitutional Crisis.

It's not that they completely suck, it's that unlike most Republicans, a majority of Democrats still have too many scruples.
