Scores of 2/5/11 - There's a purple cow in our barn! Will the Saints be saintly??

We have a final: Hamline 3 - St. John's 3......Sorry NUProf :(

Cortland is FOR REAL!!!

Cortland is FOR REAL!!!

(Post title is a throwback to the good ol' AIM days. :) )

Elbo's recap is certain to be better than this, but Cortland hung-tough with Elmira for 2 full periods, then completely lost their legs in the third. If they did not play last night, against a formidable opponent in Oswego to-boot, it is possible that this one would have gone to OT, or even Elmira coming-up short. If they make it into the SUNYAC playoff picture, they could be a HUGE spoiler. They clogged-up the middle very well, negating just about chance of any perimeter shot, and plenty of size on the roster. What they do lack is speed, but then again, that could be due to very little left in the tank after last night.

Stay tuned...

It was a pretty wild second period at Geneseo.
All three Geneseo goals came on the powerplay, with Vit coming to the fore as usual.
The first of Buff. State's goals was a slapper from just inside the blueline. Gershon stops those shots 99% of the time, but this was quite a rocket and well placed. The second Buff. State goal was a beautifully executed two-on-one, when one of Geneseo's defenders got caught up ice.
Geneseo defender Scagnelli continues to impress as a playmaker and offensive catalyst, scoring the game winner and assisting on another.
Geneseo played better than last night against Fredonia, carrying the play most of the time when the teams were even-up, though there were still some pretty glaring lapses at times and too many unnecessary penalties--a problem of late that Geneseo didn't suffer from during the first half of the season.

Fredonia 2 Brockport 2...Final. So basically if the Bears win out they are in. Going out in the snowstorm to make naked snow angels.

Correction: Naked except for the beads.

Back from Morrisville (barely; roads were horrible), Plattsburgh played very well. I was impressed with they way they came out and didn't play down to the Mustangs level. Morrisville spent a lot of time throwing their bodies into Plattsburgh players and even throwing some elbows and such, but it was good to see Plattsburgh not retaliate and play their game. Farnan took a horrible penalty in the second period. It looked like he cross-checked a Morrisville player into Relkoff. I thought for sure Emery was going to kick him out of the game, but he didn't.

I was never really worried about Morrisville at all during this game, even when they scored the quick goal early in the 2nd. I hope they can continue this good effort throughout.

Oh, and kudos to Todd Sheridan and Saves for a Cure!!

Agree!! They cleared up nicely till about the Weedsport exit...but that was bitter sweet as I got off at the next exit only to do 40mph the final 30 miles home!! I missed the first period, but Morrisville really wasn't too threatning. The two calls on Plattsburgh (Jensen) were unreal. Much better game then the first semester against the ponies.
