Saturday scores 2/6/2010

Re: Saturday scores 2/6/2010

St johns takes timeout with 2:35 left and comes out with an empty net. A hand pass is going to force them to put civello back in though

And a spraying of the goalie .2 seconds after he covered the puck leads to some heavy pushing and shoving and matching minors.

We're already 4x4, so this could be interesting. And they're both being sent to the locker rooms, St johns takes an extra minor in the fray for unsportsmanlike conduct. Majors and misconducts given out for facemasking to each.

1:58 to go so Hamline will be on the power play for the rest of the game.

Re: Saturday scores 2/6/2010

Hamline adds an empty netter to win 5-2.

Huuuuge showdown next week when they take on gustavus adolphus. If anyone can take 3-4 points, they'll have a leg up for the regular season title with just one week to go. Gusties are currently 1 pt up in the standings.

Re: Saturday scores 2/6/2010

To somewhat explain it, they were on a PP for nearly the entire overtime as with hardly any time left in the 3rd Neumann took a 5 minute major and game DQ.

Still quite impressive considering Manhattanville only had 11 shots combined for the 2nd & 3rd periods (which included at least 6 minutes on the PP). Hats off to Neumann's goalie.

it was 3 minutes of PP time for manhattanville. Most of OT, but not all of it. :p

Re: 'Bart at EC

Re: 'Bart at EC

Elmira laid a serious egg tonight.
- Great crowd contingent ... ~1800
- Reffing was bad, but that wasn't the game story. 'Bart was intentionally chippy, but EC didn't have the composure to play through it. A number of charging, hitting from behind, and 'Bart's goalie was buried 5 or 6 times.
- Hobart won a huge % of the faceoffs
- EC gave up yet another SH goal. Don't know when they'll learn that playing a winger at the blue line simply doesn't work. Not last century, not this.
- Hobart took EC out of their game with a good forecheck and a great backcheck, something EC hasn't seen in their last four games.
- Hobart's big players simply funneled every EC offensive chance to the outsides and gave up only weak attempts
- Tuttle was uncharacteristically soft stick side high, and Hobart took advantage. He was pulled after the 5th goal.
- EC seemed to be skating and passing in slow motion. Weird evening.
- The Elmira PP was simply terrible all night. When EC managed to break through 4 players at the blue line, 'Bart pressed the puck on the kill. Completely disoriented EC.

I hope we play Hobart in the ECAC West Championship at the Domes. It would be great to beat them after last night. Hobart was chippy, but also did a lot of clutching and grabbing and turned the game into a penalty fest. It took the refs quite a while to try and get control of the game, but they didn't.

It's a shame they lost in front of the biggest crowd of the season. Was also the most fun having that many people at the game, except for the final score.

I agree Tuttle was off of his game, maybe it's because of the fact he sat for three games?

Re: Saturday scores 2/6/2010

Quiet just cause I feel many haven't been talking about them outside of our esteemed MIAC correspondent;)

I think many people were starting pencil Hamline in as the favorite for the MIAC and then out west most talk has been centered around CSS, SNC, and Adrian.

That's all I was saying:cool:

The only group talking about Adrian is the East Toasters!

Re: Saturday scores 2/6/2010

Just got power back after 29 hours.
40" of snow

Did I miss anything?

But on a sad note, former Salem State defenseman Nick Jillson died in a house fire Friday night in Warwick, RI along with 3 other adults and 1 infant. Nick was a junior hockey teammate of a number of college hockey players beside those on Salem St. They include DJ Fimiani & Nikita Kashirsky (Norwich), Matt Fairchild (USAFA), Matt Raley (St. Lawrence) plus a few others that escape me right now.

Condolences to the Jillson family.

That's awful. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

Any relation to Jeff Jillson?

As a note, Bart has perfected the "Too many men" trick. The SHG was a result of an non call TMM. 4 guys in the D zone and the 5th player going to the bench was still in the offensive zone in front of the EC bench. The 4th player in the D zone should never have been there. The refs missed a ton of these TMM. still, EC was off their game and the reffing didn't help.
