Paterno is the center of attention since he IS the center of Penn State. He's not going to be charged with anything, but he has lost his job.
How is that so much worse than the people being charged? Honestly- people have lost their jobs over lesser things- it's not as if he doesn't have the means to live the rest of his life out. Nobody is taking that away.
The guy's lack actions helped opened up his employer to a rash of liability, which is a fireable offense pretty much anywhere. That's not being overly prosecuted, it's JUST losing your job. That's it. No jail time, no loss of retirement funds, no home taken from you, no freedoms being restricted. It's all anyone can do, and the BoT was pretty much forced to do it, just based on the GJ report.
I still don't see how that's being singled out and taken down.
Especially compared to the vicitims, and how they were treated partially thanks to the lack of action.
Paterno is Penn State, and Penn State is Paterno, this is a scandal at Penn State, particularly athletic, particularly football. It's quite natural that he will be the center of 99% of the attention. He built the system so that he's the center, gotta be able to deal with it.
